Koni Shock Difference
Im dropped on Comptech's and just put on some 18's on 40's and it seemed to increased my wheel gap. I dont want to get new springs or coilovers so Im going to try Koni's. Supposely they can lower your car 25mm which is an inch. The ones that that sell on this site have a model # 8041-1258 SPORT and 8041-1257 SPORT. But the ones that are listed for the TL on the Koni site are 8041-1258SP1 and 8041-1257SP1. The ones for the accord are the same as the ones on this site. I know the accord's shocks will fit our cars, but whats the difference between the SP1 and Sport? Thanks

I don't see how the strut is going to lower your car 25mm. The spring determines the drop. The strut is just a dampening device.
Where did you hear that the Koni's will lower your car? If that were true, you would see spring drops quoted based upon a specific strut usage.

No problem my friend. This is the major reason for this site, we share what we know about the ride we like.
Compare between Tien coilover and Koni yellow....... I only heard good things about Tien but you should consider Tien will allow a drop up to 3" or so but Koni yellow is only a strut with max .5" adjustment so I would say all depand on what kind of spring you put on beside knoi also allow you to adjust the bounce too. For me I will go for Struts with spring setup but if you do a lot of race track even or show than I will stay with coilover.
If you running H&R OE with stock struts I think it should be good for aleast 1 year but it really depands on the road conditions some member on this borad have stock struts with CT spring for over 2 years still ride like the first day he got it lowered. By the past exp I have with brown stock struts with lowering springs which is when you drive past some rough surface you will feel the suspension bounce back really quick more like riding on spring only or you can take apart the strut with spring off and push the center rod down more than half way(don't push it all the way down) if the rod return back to the top position by itself that means it still good if not you strut is brown. Time to look for some new struts.
Hope this help.

so you think its not worth getting tiens over koni yellow? if thats the case i can save myself couple of hundred bucks. i'm planning to upgrade my suspension this coming summer. will koni yellows be close to a stock ride feel? i dont care less about lowering my car 3", OE are low enough for me.
btw, your car looks great! have any close up pics?
what kind of suspension set up do you have?

I'm pretty sure there is more than .5" height adjustment on the Koni's. I'd venture to say at least 1". I haven't seen the actual TL part, but from what I've seen on the other adjustable shocks out there, there is a decent range of adjustment. Just bear in mind that even if there range in ride height of the Konis is greater than .5", the process of adjustment is basically completely removing the spring shock combo, compressing the spring and adjusting the shock perch ring. So it's basically the same work as uninstalling/installing shocks and springs. With a coilover, the height adjustment is much simpler. Just jack up the corner, take off the wheel and adjust the height with the spanner wrench that comes with the coilovers.

Well since I started this Ill answer my own question for those who might be wondering the same thing. SP1s are for cars with all springs except Neuspeed. The SPORTs are designed especially for Neuspeed springs. Well thats what I was told. Anyways I finally got my shocks installed yesterday on the lowest setting. From the actual piece itself, it looks to lower about an inch. But on my car it looks lower but not as much as I thought. But I scratched like 5 times already because it actually its actually a lot lower than it looks. Rides great also...
