Knocking When Applying Gas

00 TL, 190k milse, got a new trans under warranty at 60k.

Just had motor mounts replaced, along with trans flush are regular maintenance.
I have been noticing a single knock when I step on the accelerator from a dead stop or accelerating from slowing down as in approaching a light. It also knocks when it down shifts (though this is not always).
I put it in sport shift and it would knock from 4th to 3rd and 3rd to second each time I would shift it.

Is my torque converter dying?

Something was not tightened down properly, Now when you say flush was this performed using the 3x3 method or with a machine at a shop ? also what ATF was used ? I doubt the torque converter is bad altho I could be wrong. Check the movement of the engine and have a person sit in the car step on the brakes put the transmission in drive and press the gas a couple of times, do the same procedure in reverse listen closely for noises. Hope it helps

Hey Shintao, so the original tranny lasted until 60k, then the replacement has went another 130k.
....so anything is possible, IMO. It's lasted twice as long as the first one.

But first, recheck the recent work. Flushes are not recommended for our TL's. Drain & fill !
The knocking noise may simply be a problem with the mount's installation, double-check.

ErickUa5-
The knock start right before I took it in, so it preceded the new motor mounts.
I'll try it with the brakes tonight when I get home
Also, it was the 3x3 flush and I am pretty sure (though not 100%) it was the Honda ATF.

If its not the mounts, any thoughts.

Also, if anyone knows anyone in Denver area who is a good Acura mechanic I am looking for recommendations as I am new to the area.

Take it back to the shop that installed the mounts. Maybe something misaligned or a rubber isolator ?

Ya paid some good money, they can recheck their work and parts before assuming that it's a tranny problem.

Did you check to make sure the 2 tranny mounts are not loose or torn? They are easily torn when one jacks up the engine to replace the front and rear engine mounts. The proper procedure is to loosen the 2 tranny mounts first, then jack up the engine. Hopefully your problem is something this simple as they are cheap to replace and an easy diy job for you.

Ok Have you checked your suspension components ? from what your saying I think the radius rod bushings could be worn but check everything to be sure. One way to tell is by looking at both front wheel wells and see if the wheel is centered with the fender, make sure the steering wheel is straight before checking.
