Knock Sensor 2000 Acura TL
Knock Sensor 2000 Acura TL
I took the car up to Autozone and they checked the engine code and it said Knock sensor. Can anyone help me with replacing the knock sensor on a 2000 Acura TL ?
I am not mechanically savvy enough to go digging around but am able to follow instructions if they are detailed enough (ie brakes, alternator etc). Most sites say its an easy fix but time consuming. Any help would be appreciated.

I have done this part replacement (02TLS) and let me tell you it is not easy.
You have to remove the intake manifold just to get a look at the sensor, as it is positioned in the block below the injector manifold.
Furthermore it's location is between one of the manifolds that goes into the head.
Now, I'm not saying this cannot be done by DIYer but it is the biggest PIA that I've ever encountered.
You will need much patience to get it out with the help of a long chisel (yes chisel) to crack it loose. Then you will need some xtra long needle nose pliers that you can get a grip on that part. Additionally you may need to replace the line/cable that attaches to the sensor as they are prone to rodent eating issues. (yes, rats do eat that wire I've seen the evidence and the dead rat) Finally putting the sensor back in is the end of it.
Patience is all i can say, because you are working in a space that is very small and about six inches away from were you can actually access it.
Search for intake removal and knock sensor location and you will find the steps to removal of the intake and injectors.
the job is straight forward, but a real pain to do.
Good Luck
