Keyless Entry Signal

Hi guys,

On the '03 TL S, is there anyway I can program the remote keyless entry system to have an 'audible chirp', everytime I lock and unlock doors.
I do realize that its chirps if I try to lock it more than once. But I want it sound on the first time as well.

thanks

No way to program the factory system for this. But you can certainly add an aftermarket alarm that will do this.

well if you can find out which wire sends the pulse signal out to make the lights flash ......you can then just hook it up to the piezo horn and viola .

How about making it louder?

I like to know if there is a way to make the audible chirp louder as in the way my friends Lexus IS300 does. It's noticebly louder and I feel like ours is just to quiet.

Louder???

Why have it louder? I like that it is quiet. Loud chirps seem to be associated with lame cars (Fords and GMs).

I usually only press the button once to lock the car. Do you need to hear it so you will know it is locked? If you are that worried, then do some testing at home. Stand with your back to the car and try locking and unlocking the car with the remote. I bet every time the car locks.

it does this for a reason, the first pressing of the buttons locks the doors, the second confirms that all doors are closed and locked, trunk is closed, hood is closed and everything is good to go. by having it chirp on the first click would not inform u if everything is secure

DO u suggest that everytime I lock my car, i should press it twice so it will chirp and not affect the locks?
I do recall that on my Accord, i messed my locks up my locking again and again. It was a bad habit that im paying for now cuz the locks on my 97 Accord keep clicking.

My dealer had told me that the first time you press the remote, it locks all the doors. And the second time you press it, it engages the alarm. That might be wrong, but it's what i heard.

Does anybody know how to make it chirp when you unlock the car?

Or, make the doors lock automatically when you start the ignition?

You would have to add an aftermarket alarm system with some modules to do this. The factory alarm is just a basic anti-theft device.... and by anti-theft, I mean of the car, not the stuff inside as there is no factory shock sensor.

Locking the car twice is fine... I do it all of the time. Like someone above said, the first one locks the car AND sets the alarm... the second one just confirms that everything is secure and the car is armed......

yes, first one locks, and engages if everyting is kosher, seconds further confirms that so that u can sleep peacefully. i was also interested in having it chirp twice on unlocking the doors. and as far as the anti-theft goes, it does not matter if the alarm is on or not, the car will not start without the key present, there is a chip embedded within the key that lets the car know that its not being jimmied

This "two-button-press-of-the-alarm" thing is the most misunderstood thing about our cars I think. This is what happens when you press the button:

First time: Doors lock and alarm is armed. No sound is made.
Second time: Car is put into autolock mode. Beep is heard.

The alarm was not designed to be pressed twice every time. It won't hurt anything, mind you, it's just that you are repetitively putting the car into autolock mode.

So what is autolock mode? That's the feature where you get out of your car and 30 seconds after the last door is closed, the doors lock and the alarm arms. No button pressing required. Want to disable autolock? With your car locked, use the key in the driver's door and unlock the doors. Autolock is now disabled. If you press the button twice and get the beep it will be reactivated again.
