Question keeping engine bay clean

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at all your engine pics, and man, how do you guys keep your engine bays so clean?

Do ya'll sit there with a Q-tip/toothbrush and clean out all the grooves and niches?

Mine's covered with dust/dirt. Maybe I just need to suck it up, and spend a couple of hours and clean it.

Thanks in advance.

Once in a while after washing my car I just use a wet rag and wipe it down. After a while you wouldn't care about it anymore.

I do the same thing. Everytime I wash my car I just use one of the rags that I used to dry the car to clean inside. It does the job.

I toasted an ISC motor on my Talon cleaning the engine too much. Didn't really matter what cleaner I used.

My favorite was the Simple Green with a long nylon bristled wheel brush and towel it dry. Soft bristles that is.

Some things you may want to do after you wash it.

1. Wash it when the engine is cold, less chance of something cracking if cooled down too quickly.

2. Be careful around sensors. When my ISC went bad it accelerated some corrosion on the step coil.

3. I wound up running the engine at an idle with the hood open to get the last bits of water to evaporate. If you do with the hood closed the steam can get into all kinds of nasty places.
