Question Keep DC Plug "hot" all the time

Does anyone know how to keep the DC Plug in the arm rest powered when the car is off? I want to keep my cell phone in there so it will charge when my car is parked. It pulls very little power, so battery drain is not an issue.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I'm not sure what the exact wires are but I know if you run the power or relay wire straight to the battery instead of the fuse box it will be constant. Try and ask Ron(StreetEffectz)......

Although slightly off-topic, I'm curious whether anyone has experienced any problems with keeping the juice on all the time.

My wife's 2003 PT Cruiser recently developed a problem of not being able to start because of the cell phone charging all the time. As a test, we took the phone off of the plug for several days and the car started fine. Last night we plugged the phone in and the car would not start this morning.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I think mine stays on automatically? I thought that was the whole point and special feature of that particular power outlet... ?? I didn't have to modify anything...

I like to keep 12V on too. I did not change any wiring to keep the outlets hot but I did hardwire my cell phone charger and radar detector to the overhead console. I tapped into the wires that power the Homelink. The coily cord for the charger tucks into the sunglass holder which I don't use anyway and the radar detector cord comes out between the console and headliner I've been meaning to take pictures but keep forgetting. I usually leave the radar/lazer (separate units, old) on and charge the phone too and I've never had a problem. Eric.

was wondering the same thing. my 03 TL-s only has power to the armrest adapter when the key is in and switched to an 'on' position.

If you get a response, please post again....thanks.

Thats because Acura designed it that way. You need to re-wire it so that it's hardwired to a source thats power stays on 24/7. Hence, EH03TL has it hardwired to his Homelink. Hope this helped.
