k&n filter

What kind of effect if any will replacing a stock air filter with a k&n have? Is it worth the price?

"anchoi4mua" has posted a thread relating to k&n and how it works. You might want to ask him directly or do a search about that.

At the very least it's worth the price with respect that you'll never have to buy another filter again. Considering that the OEM filter costs almost as much as what you'll pay for the K&N (I paid $45 for my K&N), it'll pay for itself eventually.

As for a horsepower or mpg increase, I really didn't notice much. The growl coming from the engine under acceleration did seem to increase just slightly. In addition, the engine is supposed to breathe better with the K&N so that can't hurt.

I agree. Same reasons for getting it and same results

Better just to get an AEM cai with the bypass valve.

(although I got the K&N almost as soon as I got the car...so didnt have much history to compare to...!!)

Getting a K&N works real well, especially if you remove the airbox resonator, like so many others here have. It will increase noise a bit, but not enough to be bothersome.

Oh god, not another K & N thread! (Groans loudly)

Bottom line:
--I get a nice growl out of the engine with it
--I am consistently getting a small increase in gas mileage
--I am redoing my test of gas mileage gains. I did a test of gas mileage when my car was newer. Now that I've got 5000 + miles on the car, and it's had its first oil change, I'm redoing the test. The ideal test is a long-distance jaunt, and I'm going to Denver next week (2600 mile round trip) for a conference and to visit my mum in Colo. Springs--will post all results in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, here's my previous results:

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=31098 (note: car had around 2000 miles at this point)
