Yea thats true, but hopefully when i get my TL, the first thing i'll do is turbocharge it if i can. But thanks for the info, do any of you guys know how much HP i will gain with a turbo or a supercharger?

with the high compression of the type s engine, a turbo wont to too much good, or atleast not what you would hope to get. but hey, if u got the money, then go rite ahead. and dont forget pics

It's not the turbo or blower that gives you the power, it's the BOOST. a more educated question would be, how much power could i gain from a mild turbo setup (say a safe 6psi with IC) and the answer will be about 50-60WHP.

on another note....I will be going with HKS for my turbo upgrade on my TL-S. They already made one, so they know a thing or two about the V6 engine platform. Also, as I remember, you'll need to lower the compression of the TL-S...but who knows. The TL has a pretty high compression.

Yes Bioyuki...One of my goals for the TL-S...but I might not even think about it until like late next year....The car will be brand new...so I'm going to do it when the engine has some miles on it. haha....I really don't nkow how to lower the compression...I never really got into detail around that part cause I never took these modifications seriously until now. I will start studying it when I get my TL-S...I will be talking to HKS...I'm gonna plan ahead.

to be honest, I don't think it's worth it... not on a huge FWD sedan... and besides all that. You might end up with turbo lag, and it's not fun at all...
If you got the money to blow, turbo charge an IS300 or something like that...
not to mention the TL got a crappy tranny that can't really hold up with the extra power...

Why would you not want an intercooler? Because you read in a some magazine about "pressure drop" and BS like that? If you want to cut corners then you're not the right candidate for a custom turbo. I've actualy seen this setup on a J-block V6. Even Vinny at the Performance Factory says the same thing. They know a thing or three about turbos....
A supercharger doesn't need a IC as much as a turbo because the intake charge isn't heated as nearly as much. If you're so hung up on space then find a good air-liquid IC.
you don't alwyas have to lower compression if you're not going with sky-high boost pressure. The Celica Gt-S turbo kit does not change the CR by .001 and it still gets by because...hey guess what! it uses a frount mount IC!!!

So TurboMikey, ur saying that we can put a turbo in a TL-S right? And yes, there is enough room to put a IC in the engine. But which would serve better a supercharger or a turbo?

We're you listening? Yes we can put in a turbocharger...also...where are you going to mount the intercooler in the engine KappaBoi? If you haven't noticed....most of the cars out here with aftermarket turbos have front mount intercoolers. Also..for which would serve better...up to you.
IMO...Turbo...cause I'm doing it. And for you..get a SC, less hassle..

If you don't have the money for ultimate power, then get the CompTech SC. A custom turbo will end up costing you well over 10,000 dollars..with labor, tuning, installation, related hardware etc etc..., trust me I've seen the Performance Factory bill for Project Turbo AV6.
