Just Venting on Factory brake problem

I just had my 2000 TL in as I could hear a brake noise coming from the rear. I have only 35,000 KM. My right rear had zero left but the other three had 60% plus left. Obviously a dragging brake. The dealer gave me the song and dance that I must have been driving with the E-brake on. Well I exploded on them. First, it was just one wheel at zero and second, the TL has a separate drum system for the E-brake. The dealer said they wouldn't cover it under warranty. So, I had it repaired else where at half the dealer cost.

My gas mileage went from 400Km a tank to 550Km a tank. I never got better then 400Km a tank so I complained to Honda Canada that it was a factory problem. Honda Canada said that there were many possible causes for the poor gas milage and that I should have had it looked at when it was under warranty. FIDs.

I guess all I can do is vent and say that a little concession on their part would have gone a long way to bolster customer relations. It's almost like Honda Canada telling me that my next car won’t be an Acura.

I mean, I've had no big problems with my 2000 TL but the little things really makes me realize that Acura (Honda) don't really care too much about customer relations. I hate how my TL’s rims got pitted and corroded in the first winter but my wife's 97 Acura EL rims are still pristine. I hate how my wife's EL came standard with inner wheel well guards but I had to pay extra for them on my TL. I hate that my wife got her driver's seat leather repaired under warranty but my TL seats wouldn't be. I hate how the plastic on the TL's gauges is tilted outward and collects dust and scratches but the plastic on the EL's gauges is tilted inward and never needs cleaning. It bugs me that the TL's windshield gives me too much internal glare but the EL is just fine. It bugs me that I have more headroom in my Wife's EL.

Just venting.

I've accidently drove a few feet with my E-brake on. It shook the car. I'd think a dragging brake would do the same. I agree that there is something strange about your situation, but if the pad was at 0% it would have been making the screetching noise for quite some time now.

There ARE many causes for poor fuel economy, and why didn't you have that checked under warranty?

Just as every winter is different, so is every set of rims. I've had no problems with my TL's rims (but I'm in GA), nor have I heard this as a common complaint.

I hate that my wife got her driver's seat leather repaired under warranty but my TL seats wouldn't be.
That's vague. They won't repair your seats now that you're out of warranty or what? I had BOTH my leather seats re-upholstered under warranty on my TL.

I hate how the plastic on the TL's gauges is tilted outward and collects dust and scratches but the plastic on the EL's gauges is tilted inward and never needs cleaning.
Never heard of an outward slope being more prone to scratches, just dust - and how simple is that to clean? Are you really that lazy?

It bugs me that the TL's windshield gives me too much internal glare but the EL is just fine.
Since you apparently had the EL longer, did you not bother test driving the TL before you bought it? Wouldn't it have then been obvious that the TL was inferior, as you've made it out to be?

It bugs me that I have more headroom in my Wife's EL.
I'm going to be captain obvious for a minute... sounds to me like you should have skipped the TL and got the Civic..... errrrr... EL. Then you wouldn't have such envy of the EL's wheel well guards, headroom, inward sloping gauge plastic, pristine rims - and you and the people on the forum would live happily ever after.

I think the 1000s of transmissions they have replaced and still are show they do care about customer relations. You cant expect them to be at your every call for every little thing.
