Just Raced An Rsx-s!!!!!!

Well we raced twice. Once from the light and once from a 20mph roll. The race at the light he got a good jump off the line and was immediatly ahead by a car length. We raced up to 100 and marginally got a bit closer but never caught up to him. I was not in SS mode and for some reason my VSA light was flashing on and off a couple seconds into the race.

The second race I used SS and jumped on him immediately and held a good car length on him till about 100.

Damn what a rush!! and those things are pretty darn fast.

take vsa off, that'll reduce the gas it puts out, when you peel out, also i found that the car is faster when you gate shift 1st so you can redline it...

VSA was off. I think!!

When the orange light on your dash is on, does that mean VSA is on or off?

My VSA light was off (not orange) but when I raced him the first time it flickered on and off. Why is that?

That means you had it on! It's just letting you know its working
and is probably the reason he got a good jump on you! If you ever think your going to be in a race turn it OFF!!

When your light flickers that means you not getting good traction, i.e. wet or icey road or spinning tires.
When the light is constantly on it means vsa is off.

I messed with an rsx-s a few weeks ago and dayumn those things are quick!

Is it just me, or isnt you car quicker when you shift at the apex of the power curve? Our cars produce a maximum of 260 hp at 6,100 rpm's... so when you redline it, aren't you in fact slowing down your acceleration? I use to drive my friends old neon r/t in a manual, and he would walys be redlining it while "racing," but when I would shift at a lower rpm, the car would accelerate faster and I would generate enoug power to chirp the tires from 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts.

You nailed it on the head!!!!!!!!!! That is definately when you want to shift!

With all due respect I have to disagree. You want max RPMs in any given gear. The fact that TL-S has somewhat less power above 6100 does not mean that you want to be in the next gear too early. You will have even kless power and probably will fall of the VTEC range.

You might be right I keep forgetting about the vtec range!!...See I'm used to Pure American Muscle V-8's....My bad SergeyM!

I've had 1995+ Z28's and T/A's. Currently own a WS6 T/A....and you definately want to shift at peak horse power in RPM range...sorry

Sorry dude I disagree, I find much better performance when I shift around 6100 or 6300. Most of my cars I've owned with the exception of this one and my last car a CL have been sticks, when I redline I can feel a noticable loss of the pulling feeling.
Just my .02

I agree with SergeyM on this one.

If I shift at 6100 It feels like my car drags for a second then picks up again as soon as my car hits VTEC again.

Most of the time when I shift at 7100 I feel very little rolloff of power, but the next gear immediatly kicks with VTEC power.

If I compare both methods with my butt dyno it feels faster shifting at 7100.

Good Kill,

The other day I saw a young kid driving an RSX-S. He was weaving in/out of traffic, so I did my best to catch up. I managed to catch him at the next stoplight. When the light changed to green I was about 6 cars ahead by 30. I was so pissed.
