My adrenaline is still pumping as i write this story.I was on my way home on a 2 lane road when i came up on this black BMW 3 series, it looked like a 95-98 2 door. I passed him cuz he was at the light and it turned green while I was going downhill. As soon as i passed him i saw the guy punch it and pass me, then he motioned out the window to catch up so i did and as soon as i was next to him we both gunned it. I passed him about one car length i didnt use SS i just floored and stayed ahead a car length until i felt my car shifted into 3rd then he passed me and and stayed ahead about a half car length till i was about to red line in third and i pulled ahead at this point, damn it felt like we were going real fast cuz we were going down hill and then uphill right after i think i hit about 115mph but there was cars ahead so I slowed down while he went ahead. At the next light there was a bike so we couldnt get side by side and besides we were headed towards a 35mph zone thats real twisty so we couldnt really drag there. But he decided to head towards HWY 99 so i follwed him since its on my way home anyways. I followed him down the twisty road, until he took a right on 99, i shifted into SS mode and was on his ass. As soon as we hit 99 i went into the left lane and hit the gas, I passed him in first gear shifted into second and pulled a good car length on him and was happy, and then I SSed into third and thats when my heart dropped this mofo passed me and was about half a car length ahead, HELL NO!! but i stayed on the gas and when i hit the vtec range in third i passed him and by the time I SSed into 4th i had a better lead. What model 3 series do yall think it was? And why the hell did he pass me in the begininng of third gear only??? My girl has a 99 328i auto and i dont think it can pass me in any gear. So wazzup, whats the deal, what happened?

 

Sounds like a 325is/328is, or 323is manual....

Hmm... what RPMs are you in as soon as you are shifted into third? Maybe you need a V-AFC.

 

Im around 6100 rpm , what would the v-afc do?

 

Hard to say. I think the 328i's will give you a good run on the high end. Not sure...

could be M3... that's a good description of my one encounter with one ...and i'd say the reason he gets you in the beginning of third is if it's a manual ...right when you shift into third he's in the heart of his third...then like EMRIL would say "BAM!" you hit vtec while he has to shift into fourth...i have a type S though not sure what you have???good kill

dont think so unless the guy didnt have a clue how to drive. they accelerate like a scolded dog.
