is it just me?

is it just me or are 3rd gen. tls 10x nicer than 2nd gen 3.2's?

i brought my 2002 tl-s in for tranny replacement yesterday, and they gave me a 2006 tl. i have to say that all around the loaner car is better. i didn't think that it would be much faster, but to me the 3rd gen. seems to shit all over my tl-s. i know its more of a sporty sedan and we have more luxury sedans, but the 3rd gen has much better accelleration, 100x better stock sound (3rd gen's sound sex to me), and much better handling.

nothing against my car now, but i'm just gonna be dissapointed when going back to my car. the non type-s 3rd gen seems like it would whoop my tl-s' hiney!

just my semi-rant semi-"puff". if anything i just wish my tl-s would sound like a 3rd gen.

I agree with you to a large extent. The loaner 3rd Gen TL's that I've had have all performed nicely - the chassis is more nimble, the brakes are much improved, and overall the whole package seems more cohesive than my 03 TL-S. Still, there are aspects of the 2nd Gen that I like better. To me the ride of the 3rd Gen is a bit choppy and feels like a car with a shorter wheelbase (even though it isn't shorter), and I haven't noticed much difference in power between the two. Part of me also is reluctant to say that I like the evolutionary design changes of the 3rd Gen more than the classic styling of the 2nd Gen (though I think both are very attractive in their own way). I've always been happy to return to my car although I can't deny that the 3rd Gen is overall a better car and a very successful re-design...

Acura sells shitloads of them for a reason. The 3G is an awesome car. While I love my 2G if someone offered me a 3G for no extra cost I wouldnt think twice. However thats normally how it works is that the new generation is better then the old. Look at the 2G RL vs the 1G. Not saying the 1G is bad just look how much it improved on the 2G. Or look at the new BMW 3 series and compare it the old one. Normally the higher up the generations the nicer.

Agree with all the above. I still love my 2nd Gen.

well not necessarily. Look at the new lancer/EVO ( not out yet ), but I prefer the 04-06 model than the 08. The 08 more looks sedan compared to the previous gen, but the worst is the 08 STI. The best STI or WRX was 04-05. Sometimes dealerships go way to far with designing and ruin the look that is set in consumers minds. My 2 cents. But yea, overall the new gens are nicer than the old.

I would do just about anything to trade my 2G TL for a 3G one, they are gorgeous cars.

Yeah I do agree with that sometimes they do screw it up. I was just saying for the most part they improve it. However I do know what you mean I mean look what Lincoln did with the Navigator.

It's all about personal preferance. Both cars are equally good. Well, the 2nd gen has that tranny problem lol but everyone seems to get a free replacement anyway.

I love my 2G TL. I like the 3g as well but it's too stiff for me. It looks great, handles, accelerates very nicely. I would like some of the 3G features in my 2G such as Bluetoot, one touch moonroof, auto up/down pass window.

An example of generations being different but still kind of equal is the 94-95 Integra "VS" the 96-01. 94-95 is easier to modify with the OBD1 and only 1 O2 sensor. So whatever your personal preferance/needs are then thats the car you should own.

I like the blend of comfort/luxury with my 2G TL-S, but still crave some of the newness of the 3GTL. My next car will most likely be another TL-S (3rd or maybe 4th gen.)

Man I love the looks of the 2g tl-s but because of course with the lip... as for my 07 tl-s I like it just how it is (the a-spec kit I want but for now I am content)

i like both 2G and 3G TL, but i think the 07 TL-S looks the best at stock

I talked to an Acura salesman yesterday. He mentioned that while the 3rd gen is greatly improved over the 2nd Gen in almost all aspects, the concentration on sport vs luxury has hurt 3rd Gen sales for people trading up. Some people who've gotten used to the luxury of the 2nd Gen can't get used to the new ride.

He said the Acura reps have assured them that the 2009 TL will be a bit softer in ride and comfort.

On another note, when I asked about SH-AWD he said no one will confirm this yet, but to him it makes sense that this would be an option because it's really going to bump it up to another price level. Also the RL will get bigger like the Lex LS sedans. He said the new TSX's are going to be really hot looking and expects the 09 TL to follow the sames lines.

In terms of looks, I actually prefer the 2G over the 3G. I'm sure the 3G has it's advantages with voice command, bluetooth, etc. You can do the same with aftermarket gadgets on the 2G. I've never driven a 3G but I'm sure the amnemities are similar to that of the TSX which I have driven. Maybe I'm biased because I own a 2G TL-S and it's the first V6 sedan I've owned and I flat out love it. I'm not too fond of the "ACURA" being etched in the front bumper on the 3G. I dunno if they continued doing that on the newer versions but that's just not tasteful IMO.

I think 10x is a bit steep. I would hope, as others have mentioned, that the newer model supersedes the outgoing model -- or else -- who would upgrade? The 'mod potential' of the 3rd gen isn't as extensive as the 2nd gen ... (ie no headers for 3rd gen since they are welded on instead of bolt-on in the 2nd gen, etc ... and the 3rd gen TL does not exist in Japan)

So there are pros and cons to everything. I have had a 3rd gen TL as a loaner when I take my car in for service but I wouldn't "kill" for one. After all, the 4th gen is around the corner (probably in a year's time) so those who have a 3rd gen ... will probably be oogling over a 4th gen ... Guess the grass is always greener ...

eh i have friends with an 04 Aspec and 07 TL-Ss. ill start off by sayin the seats in the 04s werent impressive at all. my 03 TL-S seats holds me in way better. 07 ones a lil bit better at holding in but i still prefer my seats. The dash and nav looks way cooler than the 2nd gen hands down, handling is better in the 3rd gen, looks wise they both look hot

To me I think the 03 has a more luxury look than the 06's. The 06 is nice though but I prefer the 03 because it represents the Legend more.
