The correct FLUSH procedure per "JENS and Acura Service" is to 1) drain put in two qts, run 3-5 minutes while shifting between gears (YES KEEP FOOT ON BREAK) 2) repeat "1" three times, final fill is 2.75 qt. The fill plug is on top of the trans and is marked "ATF"; makes this job easy. I did it in 1 hr and the 9 qts of oil cost me around $48. Remember use only "Honda Z1" atf. I contacted a synthetic oil company (Amsoil) and their engineering dept said use only HONDA ATF. Mobil1 web page also said to use only Honda Z1. Not a 100% flush but good enough..

Acura uses the same process that Fender4 describes, after having them describe it to me after the first time I have done it myself since. The drain plug always has metal dust on it so I do a partial flush (2+qts) every 3-5K. It does not seem to make any difference though 1St Tranny gone at 28K second one is due to be replaced in a week at 43K. Perhaps an in-line filter or an oil cooler may have prolonged the inevitable. It is hard to imagine that dirty fluid that is maintained on a more that recommended interval could cause a tranny to fail.
