Just got my tinting done

Hey everyone...
I'm totally new to cars this TL is my first...
I just got my WDP tinted...15%
Question is:
I have a lifetime warrenty on the tint...but I was told not to roll the windows down for a few days...which I knew....Is there anything else I should be wary of? Right now the windows are dirty...how long do I need to wait to clean them?
Any help would be much appreciated
~Chris

Two things:

1. DO NOT roll down your window for 3 days.
2. DO NOT even try cleaning, let alone touching them for 3 days.

If you do, you'll ruin the job and have to go pay to do it all over again.

Other than that, you're all good to go

i wish VA's tinting laws weren't so damn strict, i'd go with that. but supposedly the front two windows have to be of a less tint of the back three. i think it looks wierd.

well i have my front two at 15% and my back three at 5%. at night it's all the same, but during the day time you can barely see in the fronts unless some sun was on it.

Hello,

Can you please post pictures of your WDP TL... I'm in the process of looking for a good place to tint my windows but I'm not sure what percent tint I should get. I'm afriad to tint too dark, because those damn 5.0s here...

VA Legal Limits: (higher % = less dark)
Front windows: 50%
Rear windows including back window: 35%

thanks.

i still think it's stupid, i asked a cop about it and he said the reason they have it that way is because they want to be able to see what the driver is doing..... WELL HOPEFULLY HE'S DRIVING!

Yeah, VA laws are messed up. Another messed up law is that radar detectors are illegal.

On a good/bad note I've been pulled over twice since I got my tints (each time for traffic violations) and the cop never mentioned my tint.

Tickets:
1. 72 in a 55 - cop let me off on disobeying traffic signs
2. Passed on the shoulder trying to get past rush hour traffic to exit - improper passing (doh!)

damn they didnt clean your windows that is pretty bad, i use to help my father in law in his tint shop and we would always clean the windows inside and out before we returned the car to the customer.

twighunter- the cloudiness will clear as everything dries - no sweat
Then always use a microfiber cloth to wash and dry the window tint- see the info card that came with the tint. Scratches are the result of terrycloth towels or paper towels used on them

Assclown Its not about the tint when driving
The Officer wants to see what your hands are doing as he walks up to the car, anything but holding 10 and 2 and bet on a gun being ready!
Most states, the "policy" on window tint is being able to see the number and race of all occupants of the vehicle- some require just from the sides- others even the back

If you get pulled over in a known bad area with blackout windows- what do you think Mr Law is thinking- oh man- I bet these dudes have a gun

Rolling down the front windows and turning OFF the car are good things to do.

Officers "typically" approach from the passenger side these days- too many got hit standing in the road on driver side of your car- and with most of the public being right handed- its probably harder for you to hide and shoot from right to left- a guess on my part

Keep in mind what things Police deal with every day, be the nice guy and have no worries!

I meant bad guys- harder to hide a gun and shoot from the drivers seat to the right- when you are right handed- thats why the Officers like to come up the passenger side to chat with you.

I just got tints on my 04 WDP today. I got Limo tints for the back, I dont know the percentage but its the darkest one. IL law does not allow any tints in the front, soooo still thinking about getting the lightest tint possible for the front.

damn IL law sucks, but having limo in the back and a light as hell tint in the front won't look right at all.

damn....

i paid $295 for mine

20% all the way around

Diamond Star? brand
don't know too late to walk out in the cold to check my receipt/brochure

but it was their top of the line tint
it blocks out 85% heat
and alot of uv maybe 100%
anyways its really thick tint film and it has a really cool grayish haze when you're inside(doesn't hamper visibility at all)
um it's metalized tint
did a heat test on the diff types of tint they had and it does literally block out heat!

i have lifetime warranty w/ the shop and with the actual diamond star/steel product.

and i can replace the tint whenever and as many times as i want
i.e. if i get a ticket or inspection time, they'll tear it down and put a new set back on!
or if my car gets broken into etc...

...and im thinking about going back to get my windows 5% all the way around just cause 20% aint cuttin it for me!

as you can tell from those pics, even though it's night time you can clearly see through it/ or at least able to make out objects/and shapes within the car or on the other side!

lol!
everytime i get pulled over i turn off my car, take the key out of the ignition and throw it on the dash, roll my windows down, and(when nite time) turn on my dome lights)

theres a loop hole well at least in texas, to where they can still search your car w/o your consent if your car is still on and the key is in the ignition.
they just always ask, just to get your reaction and base it off of that!
