Smile Just got my first car! TLS. 2 questions though

I just bought my first car, a 2003 TLS. So far I love everything about it. Except there are two concerns i have, and I am wondering if people out there know if this is covered under warranty or not?

When i turn my steering wheel left or right soon after starting up the car, some time it makes rattling noise as if the power steeering fluid pump is malfunctioning or something. Seem to happen only when i drive a cold car (warming up for about 1 min)

the only thing is my dome light, it seems i have to push the button a few times to turn it on. sounds like a connection problem.

just wondering has any one else ever exp this kind of problem?

when I start it

first thing in the morning and back out of the garage - when I put it into d4, i hear this brrrrrrrrrrum brrrrrrrum noise that seems to come from the left then right side. I just assumed it was the vcs or something powering up? Is that what you mean? (not that I know what it is)

BTW congrats I got mine two weeks ago antharcite grey TLS schweeet!

Oh man!!, I guess mine and yours are worked on by the same Acura tech.
My dome light isn't on when I push it to the 'on' position, this happens the first day I got the car...shouldn't happen with a new car..
however, I don't have the rattling you have

pipianderi: The soud you hear as I found out myself in this forum is the ABS testing itself, it will do this aroud 5mph and again around 10 to 15mph and it is normal for our cars. As far as the light, take it to the dealer so they can replace that switch it is probably defective, no big deal. Good luck and congrats on your new car.

It would be the ABS "arming" itself. (a mechanic friend said so) As "testing" requires that the brakes are applied. Since the TL has a more sophisticated ABS than cheaper cars, their ABS don't even "arm". (3 channel ABS on TL-P, 4 channel ABS on TL-S)

I also experienced it on my old 1.6 EL but the humming sound only came once (3 channel ABS) about 15-20 ft. after first moving from the driveway, as opposed to now it's twice.

It may also have to do with the TCS/ VSA which uses the ABS system as well.

I just bought the new 2003 TL-S three weeks ago (I like the body style better than the upcoming 2004 model) and had the same sound (always twice and always upon start-up and moving forward). Salesman told me it was normal too, but that it was the power steering pump.

The salesman didn't know what he was talkng about. Unfortunately, they frequently don't.

Yup, this is normal.

It seems like it has to do a bit with the power braking system and vacuum.

My old 94 Taurus used to do that when it wound past 10 mph or so. If you hit the brakes right when it made that sound, the brakes would feel really hard, similar to when you pump out the pressure when you have the car off and you are bleeding the brakes.

I noticed it too on my new (but used) 02 TL. But its a lot less "violent" than it was on my old bull :-)

Good luck with the light.

Im having problems with a door myself, but the dealer is taking care of that :-)
