whatever is not stock that you put into it, ie. stereo, rims, intake, whatever the car didn't come with unless the insurance co. compensats accordingly, which they rarely do for aftermarket stuff.

Unless you're buying it from the insurance company, they aren't going to let you pull OEM parts off the car. An adjuster is going to look at the car and if they see obvious pieces missing from the car, you're gona get snagged.

The last time one of my cars was totaled (not a TL), I had just installed an after market HU in it. The adjuster called me, said the HU looked new, did I want to take it out of the car? He said that it would be worth more to me out of the car than they'd give me if it stayed in.

What if the car is in your driveway and let's say that after the insurance inspector comes out and deems it totaled, can't you start pulling parts out before they tow it to a salvage yard? I did this with my 1986 Toyota Supra when I totaled it in 1991. At the time the car was towed to auto shop and the State Farm inspector said I could take whatever I wanted, but it had to have wheels. Duh!

Good luck.

When i had my RSX stolen i was able to check out the car and take w/e but then again the car was striped down to its bone. I was thinking of pulling out the HID system, so if anyone knows how to get insturctions on how to remove them send them here. Thanks.

Is that a 99, 00, or 01? If it's an 01 it may not be totalled.

If you are going to sell parts, I suggest taking out the ballast and bulb if they are not damaged and they are not going to look. HU, if you put in an aftermarket, Rims, you can probably pull out the wood trim and they won't care. Good luck with the care and insurance.

I dont think that car is totaled. Looks like it needs a new radiator support and the usual cosmetic and your good to go. Or maybe it is, looks like the crash is right at the bumper beam support which is the frame.

Remove your headlights to get the HID system out. Its all on there.

I'd test the HIDs by firing them up. The damage on the driver's side could have affected that particular one.

Is your airbag deployed? That makes about 2500~3000 difference.

the airbags didnt deploy, but the insurance company just towed my car b4 i could take other things than my belongings. And both lights light so i guess they are OK. and my car is a 2000 TL.

the damage i can tell is the right and left fenders, hood, bumper, crash bar, and transmission. When i start the car the D5 blinks and the check engine light is on. It is also very stressful to get off 1st gear. I got a car battery for sale as i just got it a week b4 this happened. If anyone needs a battery up in bay area norcal hit my up.

how is that totalled? if the airbags deployed it would have made a little more sense. this looks like you hit something at less than 20mph, what did you hit?

how many miles do you have on this car? if you have less than 100K miles you should get the tranny replaced under warranty. since it is an 2000 model they probably won't give you shit, buy it back and part it out, especially if it was an S model and you have the resources to part it out.

it looks like only body work needs to be done though. did you have tranny problems before this accident? i doubt a little accident like that would cause significant frame damage and/or suspension damage. did they put it up on a lift to see if there was suspension damage?

There is no way that TL was hit by an 18-wheeler doing 30-35 and dragged. Have you seen how cars look when they're crash tested? Well that's hitting a deformable barrier at 40. What do you think would happen to a car hit by an 18 wheeler at 35?

That damage isnt that bad. I highly doubt they would consider that totaled. The airbags didnt even deploy so that would make a huge difference. The damage there is Minimal. The hood makes it look worse, but thats what the hood is supposed to look like in a accident

glad i called it!
that "big rig" was probably goinglike <10 mph, if it was a "big rig" at all. if it was going any faster the damage would have been much more significant. also, you were probably parked behind it or something....maybe he backed into you...
and that also doesn't look like 8k of damage, maybe 4 max, im going to have to call BS on that one too....a totalled car looks like the one in my avatar or worse

^^ the big rig didnt back into me he was going against traffic on a 1 way street and i was turning onto the one way street. Some other big rig was blocking my vision of the opposite direction so i just looked for on coming traffic since it was a one way street wouldnt think a big rig would b goin the opposite direction. I come onto the street then boom bitch hits me. But insurance said atleast 8K of damge so i aint bsing and why would i BS bout this stuff? Not like im gonna get a reward for this. The avater pics looks like you juss need a new motor, bumper, left, right fenders.

Even with 5 miles and brand new that car would have been totalled. Sad since that's my favorite color and year for the CL-S. But if it was an automatic, the tranny was fucked courtesy the design team, it didn't need any help from an oak tree.
