Post just checked out 2002 TL-S - my opinions

just got back from Acura of Bellevue to see the TL-S. It has a bodykit on it and it looked awesome. The front lip is definitely more aggressive than the 99-01 front underspoiler. It blends nicely with the bumper and the fog lights. The tails really make the car stand out. This TL-S has a black wood stearing wheel that the dealer charges $600 for. And this TL-S was for sale for $36,000 /nav.

The grill is a little big, but it still looks aggressive. The rear Acura badge is a lot bigger than ours too, so basically everything is bigger...

Not bad... i thought, but I would rather keep mine and let it be a TL-S beater

Swapping out the headlights and the bumper sounds like too much time/work/money. Wouldn't trading in your 2000 be a better option?

This is what I heard from a Honda person about the 2002 TL/TL-S the 2001 CL turned out to be a bit of a sales flop so they decided to use parts from the CL/CL-S bin to do a TL face lift and add the TL-S to rejuvenate the line cheaply.

It will be interesting to see how well TL-S will do considering it pushes the price closer to BMWs, A4 competition.

So I took a peek at the new TL-S. First impressions: wow fogs, new kit is tiight! Upon closer inspection: the grill is wrong. Too big. The top edge of the grill is part of the hood while the rest is attached to the bumper.
Looks funny. I like the new headlights though. Otherwise the exterior is the same as a regualr TL with Inspire tails.

It was locked up and already sold... to the guy who owns the dealership. Good thing I chatted it up with him and got to take a peek around the inside!! He had the bowling ball wood trim kit and wheel. I love the seats... they are real leather! Some vinyl along the rear headrests (where the sun would hit) and along the front of the seats. White gauges (didn't have a chance to verify they are the same as the CL-S or not ).

And now, my favorite part about the interior: the passenger vents have molded wood trim! Like you see in the pic Tim used to have! I immediately bought them for my TL, they look sweet. But, like the OEM gause wood trim, it doesn't match the factory trim like the aftermarket kit. Its a little lighter but I'm probably the only one that will notice.

had to break post up or it wouldn't let me post it )

Unfortunately he wouldn't let me drive it.. I even offered to sit in the back seat... lol.. got to see him driving it but that wasn't all that exciting.

The car has a lot going for it. The only negatives are the ridiculously humungous grill (Acura is going for the Benz look with the huge (A) on the front of this beast) and the bowling ball wood trim. You can't get an ebony interior without it!!! Weak!! I'd rip it all out and put in "real" fake wood. Hehe... other than those cons, I like it.

Nate, the Type S at Bellevue Acura is a demo. Go back again and you can drive it. My wife and I drove it today, very nice and lots of power. My wife thought the seats were hard and the suspension was stiff but she is used to our RL which I plan on trading in on the Type S. She liked everthing else. I liked the black wood trim. The dealer added the wood trim steering wheel and wood kit around the speedo and A/C vents. I am not sure I liked the feel of the plastic on the steering wheel, but the wood trim really looks good.

The same one that was up there Thursday? Thats crazy... the guy that owned the place was ordering 18" rims for it, had the keys, and was rolling it like he owned it. Maybe he's letting it be test driven? He might have been messing with that one until his arrives... but he did say that was his.

Technically, he fronted the capital so he owns all the cars on the lot...

ball: I forgot about your accident, so that might be a viable option.

Is there any difference between the 99-01 and the 2002 tl-s kits.

The diff between side and rear pieces on the kits, the front lip on the 2002 TL-S cannot fit a 99-01 TL. Which means, yet again no fogs.
