Talking Just bought AEM CAI!!!!

I'm excited about my first performance mod. I really thought that I was gonna keep it stock, but I broke down. It's too tempting; 5-10 horses for only $200! It looks like I'm well on my way towards flexin' some muscle on the blacktop.

Keep us updated on your intake install. I want to know if you feel any difference in performance either increase or decrease. I also want to know what you think of your k&N filter that you had installed before in your stock air box and if it gave you any gaines or losses.

Thanks,

-Art

Why? Does the air bypass valve not work well? I did notice some extra power after installing my K&N, but I also switched to 93 octane at the same time, so it might have been that. I definitely recommend replacing the stock air filter, and have heard that the Comptech air filter is not as good as the K&N. It's not an HP install, just a nice thing to know that you don't have to change it for another 50k, and you will have some extra flow. I will let you guys know if I notice the extra horses after the CAI. One question: I'm going on a road trip to the beach in a week, and want to know if I should hold off on installing the AEM CAI until after the 350-mile trip. I'm just thinking that I would save some gas money, but I know I'll be itching to install it when it arrives at my doorstep. Is there a significant drop in gas mileage with the AEM CAI?

we had some serious thunder showers pass through NY today and i hit some nasty puddles with an injen cai with no bypass and no problems. I felt an immediate butt dyno increase, and an increase in sound when i removed the bypass. After a while my bypass started coming apart and after seeing the rubber sleeve from the bypass get sucked into my friends type s motor, i refuse to put it back on ever again.

For those who have never had an AEM CAI I can understand the fear. But I've had one on my 97 Civic which was slammed and no fender trimming at all completely exposed filter and under body. In Florida when it rains, it really pours. I've done some pretty dumb stuff with my filter exposed and will have to say you have to be going through a crater with alot of water to suck it up not a "puddle". So enjoy your CAI for those who have one or will get one. I'd choose it over a short ram intake or whatever those little things are called any day.

Congrats on the intake. You'll love it. As for gas mileage, CAI should increase that. That is, if you can drive normally like you did before which is not an easy thing to do.

Congrats on your 1st mod...

I agree with bigman-don't even use the bypass-I never installed it and when you punch the gas, WOW, your TL will sound like a 69 mustang with a 351W!!

The next mod you should consider getting is the axle-back Comptech exhaust. It sounds really good, especially at low-rpms

Good Luck!!
