Just Bought a 2000 TL

Took your advice and went for the 2000 instead of the 99. Will pick it up Tuesday nite. It is Naples Gold, has the wood grain dash package and has about 44,000 miles on the clock. It's from Island Acura (Long Island, NY) and comes with the 12,000 12 month new car warranty.

The tranny has not been replaced so I'm gonna watch, look, and listen for anything that doesn't feel right with it. The dealer said that if the tranny goes, Acura will put a 7 yr 100,000 mile warranty on the new tranny - is that true?

Again, thanks for the advice

Congrat. on your purchase. I haven't seen the Naples Gold in person or photo, so maybe you can post some pics when you take delivery?

I'm not sure if Acura does warranty the tranny for 7 yrs/100K or not.

Thanks

Peabody,
I bought my 2000 TL a month ago, Naples Gold with 45,000 miles. Must be your twin.
I asked about the warranty and here's the deal:

You are covered bumper to bumper for the remainder of the original 4 year/48000 warranty. In addition to that, you get the Acura pre-owned warranty or 12 months/12000 miles. So in total, you have 5 years (from original date of service - ask the dealer and they can tell you when the car was bought) or 60000 miles (approximately 16K to go).

The engine/drivetrain (tranny) is covered till 7 years/100,000. There usually is a warranty on a replacement aprt such as a tranny but I dont think it is an additional 100,000. I believe it is something like 3 years/36K but you would have to check on that (I remember reading it somewhere).

Anyway, good luck with the car!

the replacement tranny isnt warrantied for 7/100k. the tranny is warrantied until the car either hits 7 years or 100k, whichever comes first

carswell,
I do not have the mud guards behind the wheels. It is an option you can purchase (that I am looking at).

fssty,
Does that mean if you get a new tranny at 98,000 the new one is only warrantied for 2K????
