Just aquired 2003 TL
Hello guys, I recently bought a used TL, I would be the 3rd owner. The person I bought it from didn't have any records saved of the maintenance done to the car at all. The car has $117k miles on it, I was wondering what you guys recommend I do as far as tuneup/upgrade/replacement for a vehicle with that mileage.

The car looks clean and it rides good, I took it to a local shop and they performed an inspection and diagnostic reading on the car and everything checked out. During the first week that I had it, the ABS and TCS lights came on and it was determined that it was the ABS pump that needed to be replaced which the seller paid to have it fixed.
I been after a TL for quite some time but the they all seemed to be selling at a pretty high price, usually higher than book value. This one was priced closer to my budget and with a decent mileage for the price.

I bought mine a few years ago at 99k, up in Mass coincidentally. One of the first things I did (well, I gambled and waited a year or so), was to get the timing belt done. If that breaks, then your engine is toast. It's expensive, but not as expensive as repairing that engine.
While they are at it, have them replace the water pump. There may be others, but at least those two things at the same time.
Also, you might want to call or swing by the Acura dealership. They may have records of service performed at the dealership.

If you haven't already, be sure to check if your TL is covered by the extended warranty on the transmission. Not all 2003 TLs are covered and coverage is tied to the car's VIN number.
You can also register your car online via Acura's OwnerLink web page and check on the staus on any recall items.

I would want to know if the timing belt was replaced and when.
Without service records I'd be changing the oil and tranny fluid. Possibly replacing the air filters, cabin and motor.
