Just Another Question
Just curious if anyone knows where I can find out how many TLs were made in 02 and 03. Specifically, what I'm looking for is how many of the 4 different styles were produced in those years (by style I mean TL, TL with Nav, TL-S, TL-S with Nav). I think I've seen this info in print somewhere, but I can't remember where. Thanks if you can help...
Somewhere I heard that 40% of TL sales were the Type-S. If this is true I think less than half of those have navigation. I know when I was looking for my car it seemed like maybe 1 out of 3 or maybe 1 out of 4 TL-S had Nav. If this is true total TL-S with Nav sales must have accounted for maybe only 10-15% of the total. Does this sound about right to anyone?
Guess no one is feeling this thread, but I just did a search at Cars.com for 2003 TL-S with Nav. within 500 miles of my address. The one parameter I put in to limit the number of matches was that they had to have 40,000 or fewer miles. Of 107 cars that were pulled up, only 9 had navigation, which comes out to 8.4%... Just found it kind of interesting. My sense is that navigation is far more popular on 3rd Gen cars, I'd estimate perhaps 30% have navigation?
Decided to revive this thread that nobody really cared about the first time around because, well, just because... Did another search today on cars.com for 2003 Acura TL Type S - it returned 625 matches from all across the country. Then I did the same search but included in the description "navigation". That returned 57 matches. If my calculator did the math correctly that's means about 9% of the 2003 Type S for sale have Nav............. Oh yeah, I'm an encyclopedia of useless information...
...But this eggnog sure is good stuff.........

i never thought about it. when I went buying my car, i didn't even have a tl or any acura on my list. I didn't care for navi because I can use a map, mapquest and i actually ask for direction (hard to believe ladies but we do ask).
Dug, I am curious, why are you interested in how many tl were made? Or is it just too much eggnog

bx-tls, they closed the other tread about the Ghost... , but my gut sense about that whole matter is the same as yours - if you change everything you hardly have the same car...
I have a passing interest in how many TL's were produced in 2003 only because I own one. What interests me more is how Nav has become such a popular option. I estimated that 30% of 3rd Gen sales have Nav - but this could be low, what does everyone think?
You know, eggnog is great for breakfast too!

khoifl, if you converted your car to Nav you qualify as one of the AutoHeros in my book. The only mod that I've been able to figure out is putting down the all season floor mats - struggled a little with that pin that holds them in place, but eventually got the job done. It's so satisfying to look down at my feet and know that I've changed my car for the better...
If I ever decide I need a navi, i will probably get an aftermarket one just because I can get it for under wholesale. Unless someone can give me a reason why I must have the navi from Acura. When I bought my car, i had the choice between this tl-s or a 03 tl-p with navi, I wanted power and the top of the line. Navi was just not important to me.
Acura navi, from what I read, is the most reliable in the industry now. That might be why they are getting more popular. Especially with the 3g tler. I was looking around, you can get it install for about 2000 or buy it for about 1000-1200 and install it yourself.
I need to do some work on my car, but biggest obstacle is the cold since i don't have a garage and would have to do the work on the street. Which is a risk since i would be ticketed for doing repair work on the street.
Lately, I notice our newer member are buying tl are equip with navi.

I was afraid if something I do wrong....
bx-tls, I have used several navi, but none is as easy as Acura, in addition, I like the orginal "cool" A/C controler in Acura
That's why I converted mine. However, if you only want the navi, then aftermarket route is easier and less hassle.
