Joining the TL group today

I went out and purchased a 1999 Acura TL with 54k miles on it. Has navi, heated seats, sunroof, Bose system, etc. I paid about 14,400 out the door, plus a 2,000 48k-mile warranty deal. Did I pay too much or is that around the industry average? Are Acuras known to last well past the 100k-150k mark?

welcome
Yea, I think you paid a little bit too much. Yes, if you take care its right (regular maintance), 100k-150k is just a start.

Welcome aboard. I also think you pay a little too much, 99 is around 10-12k average i believe. The warranty is a good idea, don't know if you need it since your car has pretty low miles for the year and acura extend the warranty on transmission to 7yrs/100,000 miles.
My car had 45k when i bought it and i also got the same warranty, just in case

Your TL should last especially since you got the 99 with the 4-speed tranny. No tranny worries for you! Welcome!

ya maybe but it has low miles - and with proper care, it will last as long as you want. I have 98k miles on my '99TL now and it still runs like new. I recommend you switch out the navigation unit (the one in the trunk) with a newer DVD system that is found in the '00-'03 TL.

it covers the entire USA (not just regions) and is still being updated while the hard drive system's last update was a few years ago. the dvd system also have many more roads and points of interest - like 4 or 5 million points of interest in the current version.

you can find the units on Ebay sometimes - I paid around $300 for it. that is the best mod I have done to my car (most usefully at least).

welcome though!

Welcome to the forum. I think you will enjoy the car. I wondered too about how long my car might last, but everyone tells me with proper care it should go 200K easy - in other words, your car is still in its infancy...

Welcome. 100-150K...no problem. That will come and go, just make sure you keep up with scheduled maintenance. And as T0ast said, no tranny probs to worry about.
