Mine wiggles a lot when I turn my radio up or if I go over rumble strips on the road. I remember a while back, that a black ring fell off of the back of it (never put it back on because it cracked in half, don't know how it happened), that's when the looseness started. Any suggestions how to fabricate something to stiffen it up again....

Lighty tap the mirror bracket at the bottom upwards. Use the palm of your hand or a rubber mallot. The bracket uses a tappered channel and your mirror is loose because the bracket has slid downwards.

Exactly... mine did the same thing, I brought it to the stealerships attention and they said I needed a new mirror... I said fuck that. So I went home, played around with it, and I was actually cleaning it, when I hit the bottom of it, and it slid upwards a bit... with a little more force, it went right into place, and I havn't seen a jiggle out of it!

That should fix the problem!

I'm not sure if mine came loose because I replaced it over 1 year ago (under warranty from the mfg) and didn't have it secure enough or if was due to the 100+ temperatures in Chicago. Either way its rock solid now.

does only the passenger side mirror move down when you put the car in reverse? My driver side mirror doesn't move unless I move it myself.

I've had the mounting bracket for the rearview mirror break going over a couple of potholes. Had a plastic thing hit me in the face when it happened. That made the mirror really loose. I took it to the dealer and it was replaced under warranty.
