"Significantly" is a relative term. Be specific or keep it to yourself!

sorry - sure you can

I decided on the TL-S w/o navi and only the protection kit (flaps, liner, wheel locks) and and extra key - after long consideration I decided on the silver (but kinda wished for the anthracite or firepepper red but I digress... )

We did a fax attack - described on several car-buying sites - didn't say how much we would pay - just outlined what we were looking to buy.... and sent it to all of the dealers in the area.

We were prepared to pay list. We were hoping for a few hundred off - perhaps also the accessories thrown in.... we were surprised and delighted to get the good bid... coincidentally the dealership with the least 2001 inventory....

This has been posted on Radley Acura - Falls Church, VA website. Looks like these guys are trying to get not only MSRP but lot of premium for Aegean Blue. Please don't express that you are waiting for Aegean Blue on this website. Just kidding

What do you guys think? Any adds for this price like spoiler, body kit ... still too expensive.

2002 Acura TL 3.2TL TYPE S NAVI $38,030 Aegean Blue

2002 Acura TL 3.2TL TYPE S $31,710 Satin Silver

2002 Acura TL 3.2TL TYPE S $31,710 Satin Silver

2002 Acura TL 3.2TL TYPE S $31,710 Satin Silver

2002 Acura TL 3.2TL TYPE S $31,710 Nighthawk Black

2002 Acura TL 3.2TL TYPE S $31,710 Emerald Green

I can confirm some flexibility. A dealer I've been dealing with has indicated he could work something with me.
I specifically asked if he had to take MSRP and he said that he could come down from that.
I'm not going to mention the dealer just yet though.

janda_janda,

Congrats on the deal you got on your new S. I understand you're picking it up this morning. Please give us final dollar numbers after you get home. Those of us who haven't purchased our S yet are VERY interested in striking up a similar deal!
Thanks!

dest & handling $480
Total: $31,710

What a good deal! I was unaware of a factory to dealer incentive. Are you sure? Anybody else know about this?

In any event, congratulations, you must be one hell of a negotiator.

Hey janda_janda was $29,646.00 the invoice price? If so, how did you find out that prices. None of the online buyer services that I've been to haven't listed the 2002 TL models at all. Thanks!!

If the navi has an invoice of $1,799 like it did in the 2001, that figure should be close to invoice including destination charge. I calculate invoice w/o navi at $28,631. Maybe invoice for the navi went up this year?

Hi! Wow I was out driving all afternoon - at this rate the 600 mile break in will happen in less than a week - hehe! What a honey of a car...

TLSDave - re: factory to dealer - I was unaware of anything like that too, but it's on our invoice. When my husband went down earlier in the week to drop off the down payment they were just getting ready to have a sales meeting and they had a chart out saying that this dealership was kicking butt in the northeast... *maybe* this dealership earned it - or I could be full of sh!t *s* - re: navi pricing - I thought it was flat $2k so I don't know... And thanks for the compliment but we did this by fax...we didn't negotiate anything

Girldiva00 - not sure if I understood your question - $29,646 was our verbal quote and on our invoice - the sticker on the car had a base of $31 something - I couldn't find pricing of any kind on line either - for the car OR for options

Happy hunting!

Leslie

Red face

I just got some advice earlier from several members to sell my 1991 q45 instead of trading it in for a TL. I plan to purchase a 99 or 2000 model TL prefferably in blue or that off green/silver color. But I want one WITH navigation and I don't want to pay more than 20k for it. I want to put $10000.00 down so I know that the dealers would be more than willing to come down on price. So far, where I stay (Chicagoland area) , the Acura dealers are asking for $23-27K for a model, excellent condition and with navi and 20-50K on the dash. That's what I'm looking for and want one before July. What do you guys think? Does anyone have any really good tips that can help a proud wannabe future acura tl owner here in illinois? I'm open to suggestions...

Wish me luck!!! I am going to try my FAX ATTACK tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Hopefully if all goes well I will be taking delivery this coming weekend at a price well below MSRP.

Do you guys recommend a fax attack or email attack?

Should I do what TLSDave did and tell what I'm willing to pay (5% over invoice) or not mention anything like that at all and ask them what they would offer?

Should I be as specific as possible (list all the options I want)? And should I tell them that I can wait till November or will they not take me seriously? I can get a car now, or anytime from not till November.

Lastly, in the case of an email attack, should I cover up all the email addresses of the other dealerships? Or let them know that I'm looking at the other dealerships. I count more than 8 dealerships off the top of my head in my area (counting some NYC dealerships).

Thanks for all your help guys, I'm a newbie at this so I'm very apprehensive... taking a look at that carbuyingtips.com website as I write this...

just my .02 - when we researched the "fax attack", they definitely discouraged using e-mail...they said that those tended to be ignored - because the dealership thinks it's from "kids" - these aren't my words. We got all our replies within hours of sending it out so I would do it that way if you have a fax machine available
