My bodykit and spoiler wouldn't have matched if I got a different color

Great job Copland! Best of luck on this one.

I'm on tranny 2 now. Nothing like a week in a rental car to make you appreciate what a fine ride the TL-S is.

Here's to hoping they've got this tranny problem figured out.

hehe, I laugh at this every time I get in the car, the rear-view mirror is huge now!!

Also something worth noting - Nearly every plastic piece joint type parts in the interior are much better constructed than the 02. For example the plastic flap that covers the vanity mirror feels much stronger and it no longers jiggles a little in the closed position; the bay doors that open up for the cup holder feels tighter; the manual door lock/unlock button has much less play in it; the sunroof sliding door is much harder to slide (and doesn't rattle), and the list goes on... The only thing noticeable that doesn't seem different is the plastic latch to open the center console arm rest thingy.

And I have a hunch that the leather is different, or it was cured differently. The loose sections of the leather have a different texture to them. They look/feel more like the loose leather in the TL. That may just be my imagination though, I'd have to compare side-by-side with an 02 to say for sure.

hey copland007!!
Nice to see you stick with a TL. Most people would probably be drivin a different car and be saying how bad a TL is.
Anywayz!! got some question for yah.
What you have to go thru beside blowing up the tranny four times to get Acura to do this?
What dealer is this?
I got a 03 tl-s too. is the quality really better than the 02 one? Never been inside a 02 before.

Thanx for all the wishes of good luck guys

pianoman41:
Yah, will be nice to make another meet since I couldn't make the last!

WiLz:
Yah, that was part of the deal - they would move all the mods at no cost. I did agree on a final depreciation of 10 cents / mile ~ $2800 which I thought was fair enough. I've been playing with Onstar a bit today and I really like it actually. The only technical thing which is just 'ok' is that it uses a 3W analog cellular signal exclusively, it isn't dual-mode But even still the personal calling feature is plenty clear enough when using it for cell calls. $10 for 30 minutes of calling (no long distance/roaming) to use in 2 months time frame.

this is me:
Yah, I wasn't ready to take a financial hit to move to a different car quite yet. After weighing my options the $2800 and no labor fees for mod moving seemed the most logical.

Acura of Boston - yes, at least quality of my 02 was inferior to the quality of this 03.

A lot of things had to happen for this to happen. Being in the LA Times helped a lot, and the dealership was simply awesome throughout my whole ordeal. I'll copy what I wrote on the _other_ site...

I don't want to get anybody else's hopes up. What happened in my case was extrodinary and was due much to the fact that my dealer was absolutely awesome and on my side from the beginning. Client Services can kiss my big rosey ass , they still haven't called me back from me calling them twice a day for two weeks leading up to this deal finalizing. All applause is due to the great team effort of Acura of Boston, most notibly my service team leader, Tony S., the service advisor, Terry M., my salesperson, Jon M., and the GM and head of sales, Mr. Cronin.

My hats go off to them for standing up and working overtime to get the customer where they wanted/needed/deserved to be

And I suppose on the other end of the deal, a small hat off for Honda Inc, for standing behind the decision and biting the bullet.

Excellent for you copland007. The squeeky wheel will always get the grease and I am guessing that you were a complete ass to get a new car. The depreciation was reasonable, and you would have been screwed a lot more if you sold it and bought a new vehicle. I am surprised Acura didn't put a gag order on you in exchange for this deal. Justice for you.

Thanx BLEXV6. I didn't have to be an ass to anybody at the dealer, only Client Services (which I learned from GM that they aren't given much authority to do anything). The dealer was excellent throughout the whole ordeal. Truly the saving grace in this whole mess.

And you're dead on as to why I accepted the 03 instead of jettin to a whole new manufacturer - I just wasn't ready to take a larger financial hit yet.
