This morning I was at a traffic light and a silver IS300 was next to me, I guess he was on his way to school because he looked really really young. Anyway, he reved his engine and being 7am I didn't even bother staring at him. Well, the light turned green and he launched...he beat me to about 40mph and then after that it was all over. I think after about 40mph he either put the car in reverse or slammed on the brakes because that's just about what it looked like from my rear views. Didn't have have to take it past 60mph before I knew he gave up.
HAHA, I bet I got some of you going thinking he actually beat me!

The 5-spds are no faster at the track than the auto's... believe it or not.

 

He is right. The 5 speed is rear wheel drive. Dont sleep on one of those they will go right by you.. He must have shut down because they might be a bit slower than the TL-S but not by much...

 

Ummm, try 7.2 0-60, and a 15.4 1/4 mile speed (C&D February 2002) for a 5 speed manual ...

7.4 0-60 and 15.5 1/4 mile for the automatic (MT September 2002)

The wimpy 5-speed automatic TL-S still beats that if we're talking strictly magazine numbers ...

On the street there's always other factors to consider ... But in terms of car versus car, the TL-S is faster than the IS300.. stock for stock.

Now, what you really have to watch out for is a Turbo'ed IS300 ... Those things will be REALLY fast and the TL-S wouldn't stand a chance against one.
