i have a friend that did it on his honda accord.. depends on what type of installation youre talking about. what exactly do you want to do with it?

you just get an Ipod holder and hang it by the dash/deck like you would with an XM radio controller.. after you hook it to one of those holder things, just hook it to an FM transmitter, set your radio frequency to the one that's on your transmitter and you'll be listening to your ipod through your car speakers crystal clear.

and btw, ridgewood as in bergen county ridgewood right? if so.. i live 2 minutes from your town. my house is on the same street as Paramus Park mall off route 17.

huh. depends on the area. I got perfect quality. its really clear in my area.. if that doesnt work then you could always go for the cassette tape thing. that stuff isnt as great but it works.

you need to be more specific on exactly what you want to do..
If you want the Ipod, im pretty sure the 40GB one comes with all the nessacary things to hook up to a car. You might have to buy the Itrip FM transmitter. it costs about 40-50 dollars. The hookup is really simple for the Ipod, and plus you can always take the ipod with you when you leave your car. you cant do the same with a headunit. but that's your choice. headunit will cost anywhere from 150-400. depends on what style you want and what you want on it. a basic MP3 CD-player headunit will be about 250 on average. The 40GB Ipod can get costly, maybe 300? then you'll probably want the FM transmitter to play it in your car, so 350. But the setup is real easy. Unless you want to go for the headunit, Best Buy got some great deals going on right now.. the one off Route 17 north. They also do all the headunit installations if you dont want to do it yourself for 50 bucks.

THE IPOD 40GB IS $400, THE ITRIP IS $35.........SO IF YOU REALLY WANT A HEAD UNIT, GO FOR IT...CONSIDERING THE PRICE OF THE IPOD AND ACCESSORIES......IPOD AND ITRIP INSTALLATION IN YOUR CAR IS REALLY SIMPLE, SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES TO FIGURE IT OUT, BUT IT CAN TAKE A WHILE TO FIND A GOOD RADIO STATION

I actually get better sound quality from the tape cassette as opposed to using the Itrip. Radio quality is not that great because you lose all the high end frequencies.

Blitzsafe is nice but it doesn't allow you to skip songs on the ipod with the Steering Wheel Controls or the HU. The HU buttons for Random and Repeat also set the ipod to Random or Repeat modes.

Icelink is the best solution out. The downside: EXPENSIVE.

40GB IPOD = $400
ICELINK = $230+Shipping

get the ipod and blitzsafe...hardwire it....put the ipod in the cup holder and control it there...i usually use only one hand to hold steering and one hand on shifter...and once u get used to ipod...u dont even have to look at ipod to change the track....icelink is definitely expensive...but ipod is worth spending money for....any of the fm transmitter or tape adapters aren't good enough..also i bought one of those old belkin power adapters for ipod which have volume control and jack for the blitzsafe adapter...that way if u accidently put finger on click wheel....the volume doesn't change....volume is then controlled by the power adapter which can stay inside the box under ur arm...keep the volume on belkin adpater to max and then u can control volume through ur steering wheel controls....not worth spending additional $150 for icelink just to be able to change track thru ur steering wheel button....i m very happy wiht my set up.

How many songs can you store on the 20gb one? I was thinking about getting the Ipod mini....I think that one has 4gb.

Basically after you turn your car on, how do you get the IPOD to play in the car?

Don't use an FM transmitter or cassette adapter. That's ghetto.

Instead, use Denison ICElink
http://icelink.densionusa.com/

or Neo Ion
http://www.neocaraudio.com/prod-ion.html

That way you can avoid the sound quality problems presented by the FM transmitter or cassette adapter... and you can use your steering wheel controls to control the iPod.

The CD button toggles between the CD Changer and the iPod. If there is no CD in the Changer it goes straight to the iPod. If the iPod is not connected it stays at CD1 and doesn't play anything. So everything still works. CD Changer and Navi are fully functional. iPod controlled through your Steering Wheel Controls is just awesome.

My friend uses the iTrip radio frequency method of sending iPod music to the car.

My brother uses the tape cassette method.

I believe that the tape cassette method is far superior. Therefore, when I bought my '05 TL, I made sure to get the tape cassette link between the iPod and car. IT WORKS VERY WELL.
