Intermitent power loss

I am the proud owner of a 99 Acura TL with NAV. Very nice car.
but when driving at 45-55 mostly, the power to the dash, cruise control and Navigation, and radio go off for about 1 to 2 seconds. Can not say for sure it is doing so from bumps in the road. smooth, or not, it happens. Any ideas?
99 Acura TL with Navigation, 209000 miles on it.
thank you
jessie

its your ignition where the key goes in. there is a recall. you can get it replaced for free at any acura dealer. best way to test is to jiggle the key while the car is on. if it shuts off then you found the problem.

I did the jiggle of the key, did not do anything.
i will try it again, maybe i did not get it right.
as for the transmission, i just got it from a friend of mine in a trade. it drives fine, history for this car is not very good last three years , but everything is documented before that.
the last 100000 miles or so are all highway from last few years. it shifts great only a slight bump when going into gear, i figure it is mounts.
only had her for a few weeks, had it on the open road this last weekend, did a trip to the coast, almost 1000 miles.
wow great car. this intermittent power loss is the only complaint.
Also know i will be doing, (checking first) a timing belt asap.

you probably need a new ignition switch back- 50 bucks at parts stores
Acura replaces it once under recall but used the same crappy part as far as we can tell- since they fail another 3-4 times on average in a 99
see DIY list for help- 30 minutes or less

call 1-800-238-3382 x5 register as new owner- ask if any open recalls- Need VIN

everyone should be registered with acura care- thats who sends out the recall notes for airbag probs etc

front motor mount is a common failure- then right side mount takes abuse and fails

we tend to treat diagnosis like our babies- does it fix your problem or do we need to search further, call out a 99 expert or whatever is needed

if last owner had a lot of keys on the ring- thats really bad for the switch

They wear out on all cars- thats why its made to replace without the key part- just the electrical triggers in back, plug and play

Yes the diagnosis is very important, and sorry for not getting onto it sooner. the Honda shop here in town has to order it anyway. going to head north to Spokane wa, to the acura dealer to get one. go up with the wife and enjoy the day.

Sorry been so long, but i replaced the ignition switch and it did not work.
i was doing plan ol cleaning and found the positive clamp on the battery was very corroded. but was covered in battery grease. (it looked clean) turns out the clamp was completely destroyed. replace it and all is good.

with a 99 you would have encountered a prob with the switch even if it had other problems- its ALL fixed now

everyone should inspect the battery cables and have system tested for free at parts store
10 year old cables..not working like they were new~
