are you referring to specific performance numbers, or the order in which they ranked the TL per respective car comparo?

 

TL-S out performed G35 but how come G35 outperfom 04 TL now?

 

I had the same issue of C/D. The TL-S ranked 3rd after the 330i and the A4 3.0 CVT. I even had the Road and Track review of the 02 TL-S (now part of my binder with the TSBs and the work orders). These issues had made me decide to get the TL-S.

I guess back then, the 2nd Gen ranked higher than the G35 toe to toe. The 04 TL (3rd Gen) somehow doesn't impress the testers. Funny is the G35 did not have much improvements from the previous years.
