I had a friend who drove a Saab 9-3 through a puddle and the engine died - nice $1,800 repair and the engine has never run the same since. Amazing for a car that's supposed to be designed for winter driving. Makes you wonder why they engineer these intakes so low to the ground!
Heard BMW 5-Series have very low intake opening, too. During rain season, many roads are flooded in Taiwan, and many 5-Series owners ran through the water, sucked up the water into engine... the WHAM... got stuck... $10,000 repair...
