Question Intake Noise

OK, here is the problem. I just installed a short ram air intake on my TL type-s. I made it from 3" pvc and a conical air filter. I also made a heat shield were the old air box existed. NOW, I have this loud hum coming from my intake. It sounds like a fog horn. It never changes pitch, regardless of engine rpm. It is loud at idle, but is easily drowned out as engine and road noise increase.

Have any of you experienced this problem when adding an aftermarket intake? How can this be eliminated?

this has been discussed, its a resonance from the type s intake manifold, the only way to get rid of it is if you can design a resonator box to match its frequency, but if not then get the aem or the ct or the injen they dont have that problem

That's the bottom line. I had a Weapon-R short ram and it never made noise. Making your own intake is only going to make noise, and not really produce any power. Spend the money on an intake by a good company who put months, possibly years and hundreds of thousands of dollars into R&D to create a quality product.

Yah...had the same humm just by removing the resonator. It got real annoying at times especially at idle. Just huummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .... drove me nuts.
