Question intake install on 99 TL

When installing an intake on a 99 TL what do you do with the coolant lines attached to the stock air box?

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!

The coolant lines that are attached to the stock airbox do not attach to the CAI. You need to follow the tubes back to where they originate at the engine. Pull out one of the tubes and connect the other tube to where the first one connected. DONE!

There is no place to connect them to the CAI.

Do as NSXNEXT says. One of the hoses comes out just under the throttle body and the other is connected on the thermastat housing.

Been there, done that.

I think it only applies to 99 TLs. Yeah I know, I'm going.

AEM CAI install

There are no coolant hoses associated with any part of the intake involved with an AEM CAI install on a 2001 TL.

Just finished installing one (orderd from Tim on Labor Day at 9 PM and arrived four days later) about an hour ago, and it was very straight forward following the instructions and advice of several others on this forum.

A slight problem is that the lower mounting arm on the lower section tube comes with no rubber mount, in spite of it being listed in the parts inventory and a bold note in the instructions telling you that failure to use it voids the warranty.

No problem as you proceed - use one of the short rubber grommets and 10mm bolts from the resonator box that you have to take out anyway. Once you either use a very big flat head screw driver, or vise, or grinder to enlarge the inside space between the forks on the end of the mounting arm, the rubber part fits snugly. The only thing missing then is a nut, and you can find one at about any hardware store.

As show elsewhere on this forum, there is a white plastic wiring loom holder that sits in a hole that is the correct mounting hole for this lower arm mount. Use a pair of pliers from under the wheel well to squeeze and push it up, then mount the lower arm mount bolt through that hole and snug up the nut from underneath.

Before you get everything tightened down and put the innner fender liner and bumber cover back in place, be sure that the air filter does not rub or vibrate agains the frame or fender liner. You can easily adjust this by twisting the lower tube right and left to center it.

Just go back from a test drive and like it - as others have noted, there is a slight whistling noise from outside the car at the left front but little if any difference in noise when driving.

Until you hit the throttle wide open, and then it wails like a Banshee.

Also, did you put the pullies on yourself?
