Insurance?
Insurance?
Hi im just wondering what everyone is paying for insurance on their tl. I have 2 wrecks with no injurys and no tickets, im trying to figure out how much my insurance would be. Im also only 18, are there any other young tl drivers with not the best record? How much do you pay for insurance?
Insurance could be worse on this car, but it still sucks. I'm 22 and I live in AL along the Gulf Coast and mine runs about $120-130 a month. I have Allstate with the "good student" discount. Only problem is I just graduated college so my premium will go up to about $150 a month w/o the student discount. I have a clean record. 1 ticket that doesn't show up (I love the driving school option here), and 1 accident that was not my fault. My coverage kind of sucks. I had to get lower limits and higher deductibles in order to afford the insurance. $250 comprehensive ded. and $500 collision. I do have towing and rental coverage though. Put it this way, insurance on this car will cost less than one of those "me too" sports cars like a Mustang GT. I paid right at $110 a month for my black 00 Civic before it got totalled. Bear in mind the cost will be higher for this car becuase its considered luxury. If you're 18 yours might be slightly higher. I don't know how premiums in OR would compare to down here. You can usually get a free quote online from State Farm or Allstate to give you a general idea.
Well..
For the last 6 months i have been paying $315 for insurance all because on my previous car i had almost 8 tickets and paid a ton of money getting them cleared with my lawyer. This month i finnaly got a letter saying my insurance has dropped to $205 and im sooooo happy. That still isnt "great" but i havent had any tickets in a lil over a year and i just turned 22.

$1,534 a year, no tickets/wrecks/claims, covered for a ton of $$ in all areas, and I'm 22. My insurance company is a little more expensive, but they'll never dump me and they really take care of their customers. They're known for kicking a$$ and taking names when it comes to the "other party" in claims I file.
DAMN!! All your insurances are so CHEAP
!! I live in new york, queens area and i'm 22. Geico charges me $3500/year
for the lowest coverage and collision damage!! Quoted around and thats the cheapest. Allstate wanted $5000. By the way, i got a 2003 tl-s and my record is clean. Been driving for 4 years already. They all say wait till you turn 25. Yeap, living in NY cost way too much!! Suckss!!!!

i've seen ppl's insurance stay the same or maybe, just maybe go down a tad bit when they turned 25. it's not like it goes crashing down!
i'd see your insurance go down if you were maybe.......
+30's
married
and possible drive with kids in the car
4 dr car (bonus that we are)
then take into affect your neighborhood!
otherwise they see you as a punk kid with no idea how to handle 6 cyl's, and with rich parents that'll pay for your tickets and insurance premiums.
i'm 24, married, 2kids, nice neighbourhood, no tickets, 1 not at fault accident.
i used to pay $443.00 and it went down to $378/mth at renewal. $4536/yr
remember that a V6 car has alot to do with it, i paid half that with my '97 4dr ACCORD EX 2.2 4cyl. hope this helps!
Can anybody comment on this?
I heard that in Illinois, they passed a law in the middle portion of the year that said car insurance rates could no longer be based on what was under the hood of the car (4, V6, V8, etc.), and instead was determined on the collective amount of accidents for the car within the state.

. I know country-wide are really picky when they choose who they insure. I know my uncle got into two accidents within a year and both not even close to his fault, country-wide wouldn't renew his policy. All i know is the new-york tri state area is the worst to own a car. Really tough to shell out $300 for insurance + car loan + the high gas prices these days. (This morning premium gas at $2.35 :grenade: )
26m Paying $1050/year on my 03 TLs. Farmers Insurance
concept of your premium going down when you turn 25yrs old is very true. IT'S NOT A MYTH.
I would like to educate everyone about the concept of full coverage.... THERE IS NO SUCH THING!
Your insurance company only covers you up to the extend of the coverage limits. They will not pay anything in excess of your coverage limits... it becomes your personal liability once your coverage has been exhausted. Hence, no such thing as full coverage. Example... you kill someone and it's your fault, I don't care how much coverage you have, it will not cover a person's life. Another... I'm currently working on a claim where my client got seriously injured and has racked up medical bilsl in excess of 1.5 mil.... still climbing... poor guy. Typical insurance coverage for bodily injury will not go this high, unless you purchase an umbrella coverage along with it. getting the drift?
When you have assets, it's very important for you to get as much coverage your money could buy. If you have shitty coverage and your insurance company won't cover all of it, they will come after your assets  Also along the line, they could tap into your bank account as well as garnish your wages.

To Billmatt. USAA does not require you to be a veteran/military to purchase their policy. They'd be out of business if they did that. You do get significant discount for being a veteran/military with most insurance companies and that's why it's so cheap for you. USAA is not a special carrier in CA. I deal with them on a daily basis :o
I was getting ripped off by Progressive, $250 a month for six months. Finished out my year, two tickets fell off, no accidents. Now I'm with Unitrin $500 Deductible for $112 a month for a year. Best deal I've ever gotten.

USAA is a member-owned insurance and financial services company that primarily serves active duty, Reserve and National Guard personnel in the U.S. Armed Forces, grown children of USAA members and former USAA members.
Based on the information you provided, it does not appear you are eligible for insurance with the USAA group of property and casualty insurance companies.
If you would like more information or clarification on USAA's eligibility requirements, please call 1-800-292-8302.

BTW - I am a veteran, but I don't use USAA. I pay $900/yr for my TL-S with no tickets, accidents, and a safe driver discount (no tickets or accidents in the last 3 years).
i got into major car accident with my 2.5tl that wasn't my fault and i sued the lady for a much as her insurance could give which about 50g's and my insurance paid me another 50g's to cover the rest. A year later i bought my new 2003 tl types cash and install tein ss coilovers with 19inch Lowenhart br5 and have much more money to spen. thats the price they had to pay with my broken leg with a steel rod in it. I got full coverage with Liberty Mutual and only pay $1000 a year.
