I recieved my Neuspeed upper strut bar from Tim yeserday...I tried to install it today, but could'nt...I got the passenger side nuts off but the drivers side seems to be stripped, I guess when the Ground Control was installed...do I just cut the nut off and buy new ones or is there another way? please help me out!! thanks

Hey Evan...
Do what you can to get the stripped bolt off...and go get a new bolt...cause the stripped bolt is useless.

Try the Vice grips. If they don't work and the nuts are really that badly stripped, there's this tool called a nutcracker that fits over the stripped nut and you turn this threaded screw until it splits the nut in half. Either way, you should replace the stripped nut with a new one afterwards.

Guys I've tried evrything and the nut still won't come loose...starting to think I have to cut it off and just get new one...but what do I use to cut off without damaging the bolt?...or should I cut the bolt off too and just get a new set together? The fvcking nut is so cheap it strips so fvcking easily...sorry just frustrated, anyway thanks in advance.

Did you try the Visegrip. If not, do what bebber says, Nutcracker.

The nutcracker works like a champ, after you remove the nut check the threads on the bolt. You can clean them up with a file and sears has a thread file that will match your threads or change the bolt.

Okay, I'm going to Sears tommorrow to get the Nut Cracker, but I also need to get four new nuts, cuz the OEM are sh!t, anywayz I know that they are 14mm but do I need to ask for a special kind of nut or what about the size and thread design inside the nut?...I'm not familiar with nuts. Whoa, that just did'nt sound right ...but seriously does anyone know what I need to ask for exactly so it fits the OEM strut bolts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Get a nut that fits the same diameter bolt (so the inside hole must be the exact same size) and has the same pitch of thread (so the threads are exactly the same width apart). The external size of the new nut doesn't really matter cause you could use a different socket on it if you had to, but you're always best off sticking to the stock size for convenience sake whenever possible.

Ok, sounds good...I guess I'll have to try different nuts like at home depot or something and take off the actual bolt.

Use the oem nuts, there is nothing wrong with them. I also have the nuespeed strut and have removed and reinstalled it to install headers with no problem with the nuts. The nuts are probably engineered weaker to prevent damage to the studs. If you use stronger nuts, you might overstress the studs, don`t void your warranty.

Well I had a thought today and called up (Autotrix)the place that installed my Ground Control and told them the situation...they told me to bring the strut bar down and they would take care of it...so anywayz I went down there and like they said they took care of it and got me in as soon as I got there...they used a vice grip to get off the two stripped nuts(when I tried it did'nt work, go figure ) and installed the strut bar and even gave me new stainless steel nuts, all for free!...I will take pics tommorrow and post...thanks everybody for the advice.
