Installing Foglights??

Hey all, just got the Sylvania Silverstars and tried to put them in, but do I need to take the bumper off? I took a 10mm wrench and loosened the bolt and all that, but i couldn't figure out how to take the light assembly from the bumper. I couldn't really find a way to do it. I didn't look hard since i'm stressed for time and about to go to class, but could someone help me out? Thanks

Its easier if u remove the bumper but i was messin with my bulbs in on my fogs the other day, if u take out the two plugs that hold the plastic plate on the corner of the bumper directly beneath the fog and just move that plate over u can reach up to ur fog light, and u can see in there on the back u have two bolts that hold the fog to bumper take them out and they should come free... sorry tryed to be detailed from memory, good luck

??!?!?! isn't that the easiest to take off the fog housing to replace the bulbs?! read the manual, it says how to take out the housing, just one bolt, very easy....

from the bottom, 1 10mm bolt for each fogs. you need a 6" extension but its' still very easy. took me less than 5 mins to replace both bulbs

The problem i had was taking out the light assembly. I have a 10mm with 6" extension, etc,. I hit the bolt and loosened it. This is all stuff i said in my message.

the PROBLEM i'm having with it is taking out the light assembly. I loosen up the bolt, but i don't know how to get the light assembly out. I don't want to damage anything on my car, so rather risk it, i figured i'd ask and see what i'm missing.
So after loosening up the bolts, what do you do? how do you take out the foglight assembly?
Thank you in advance.

ah ic, now i know what you talking about. this is what you need to do, i will use the driver side as an example. take a cloth and also a flat head screw driver. now use the cloth to cover up the screw driver (so you don't scratch the body of the car, and start "prying" the side of the fog light housnig that's closer to the grill (closer to center). it will start to come out, and once it's out, pull that side all the way out and the side that's closest to the side of the car will slide out.

I think you need to remove the bolt, not just loosen it. If the bolt is removed, the assembly should pop loose with a little effort. If it won't pop loose by hand, rominl's idea of a cloth covered flathead screwdriver should do the trick...

damn, all i did was reach behind the assembly and unscrew the bulb, took all of five minutes for both of them. the only thing i had to do was take out one plastic screw from that plastic underbody thing to reach up behind it.

Thanks to all you guys!!

Thanks a lot for everyone's help!
After reading the message about using the screwdriver covered by a cloth to pry out the light assembly, and how i might need to completely remove the bolt, i tried it immediately after reading the posts, and i got it done it about 5 minutes! There were clips that prevented the light assembly from coming out, but the screwdriver helped to pry it out. Well, I got them in, and they work. I guess i'll find out tonight how they look!
Thanks again guys! It's my first mod, (is it a mod?), so thanks again for everyone's help!!

Checked them out...

Well, i got home from work tonight and actually had a couple of chances to look at the fog in comparison with the HID's, and they don't even come close really. It's a nice upgrade, but there's still a lot of yellow from the foglights. I'll keep them because they're whiter, but they still don't match at all, and even after warmed up and at long distance, they're not that identical. Again, it's not bad, and it's worth the $50 for the pair, but don't expect a white foglight. It'll still be yellow, especially before warming up. I guess if I really wanted matching fogs, I'll just have to get the HID kit.

rob, what fogs so you have there? if you want to match the stock hid you can get the piaa plasma white or the extreme white, after warm up they are pretty good.

agean, when you have an inside it's tough to change the bulb that way
