Installing the bypass

Alright I have searched for this subject and it may have been talked about before, but I need some help on my CAI install. I have heard that I need to cut off a small amount at the end of the pipe to get it to fit. Is this true? also can I cut it off at the section where I install the bypass? Thanks in advance for your much needed input.

Last night

I installed my new Showoff Krypton Lights..for my fogs and highbeams..and went ahead and installed the bypass valve last night..

I cut it the length of the middle portion of the valve.... with a hack saw..then used a file to get out all the shavings... i rinsed and dried the intake..and then tightened all the parts...

put it back in the engine bay... and it shouldn't be too difficult to put back on the filter... i actually put the filter underneath..and pulled the sleeve onto the intake pipe..
simple.
