Installed AEM intake and have ???

Ok I put the AEM short intake in my 99 TL with a few mods, as far as hoses not fiting and reconnecting the antifreeze hose to bypass the original intake.

I attached a hose over the litle intake pipe out the side of it and the original hose comming out of the throttle body so the air does not leak out or anything. Now the original looked like a good set up, do you think it is better to leave it stock?

I have not had any problems so far but I am not sure if it is funtioning the way the original intake did. Has it's own cooling system on the 99, why did they change this sytem. Just do not want to mess anything up due to a $100 intake that does not do much but sound good at high RPM's ya know!! Thanks for the help and opinins!!!

If done correctly, there should be no damage to your engine caused by the modification. The factory intake does appear to be a pretty efficient, but very complex piece. I installed the AEM V2 Cold Air intake on my '99 TL and although initially had installation problems, due to vague installation guide, but has since run flawlessly. It gives the the car a more pronounced sound. I like it and so does most everyone I talk to. As far as performance gains, its hard to say for sure, I have not had my car DYNO'd. Besides, DYNOs are not 100% representative of what kind of power an engine can produce on the open road. A logical guess, though, would be that it adds anywhere from 3-8 hp.
