The base part of my shift selector is all scratched....the silver/chrome colored piece. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace this as I am deciding if I should do it myself or just get it done at the dealer.

pop off the lil plastic ring that surrounds it. then unscrew the shift knob (counterclock wise) then it just unsnaps!and pulls up
