I think you could do better. This is just an OEM rebuild. Nothing major yet.
I just have to come up with funds for next year when I start doing the big things.
School, work, and my girl's school is killing me and of course the regular bills to top it all off.
Otherwise I'd have another car by now.

Ya I was looking at getting a new car too but there's so much potential in our tl's and I shouldn't get anything with high insurance right before going to college

I want more speed without having to mess with a supercharger and all that stuff so you're build is more along the lines of what I want to do. Are you gonna have trouble fitting it under the hood though? Thats why I don't want to do the type-s motor

If you want a more peppy NA car, I say get a hold of Type-S heads with cams, runners, and Intake manifold.
Then find a J35A4 block with the crank, pistons, and rods. Start purchasing rebuild parts, new bearings, seals, and such.
If you want higher compression, RL pistons fit right in. You can get a hold of the Total seal piston rings by contacting them. The piston rings cost about the same as OEM honda.
The tranny you can get from the vehicles posted earlier.
The swap on average can cost to about the 6k to 8k doing it all at once. Unless you find a parts for free.
Let me know if you need any help, I have no problem helping.

For those interested in numbers and such,
Here's a dyno of a friend. Recently just had the 3.5 put in with some mods.
Mods are
XS headers, P2R power plenums, Comptech Icebox, PnP Heads, runners, IM. Apexi VAFC Neo
![](http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/5130/aug22nd08rc4.jpg)
Pre tune running on CL-S ECU.
276WHP and 248WTQ
Post tune.
278WHP and 252 WTQ
Here's the comparison 3.2 vs 3.5 with the same mods minus the PnP and P2R Power plenums.
![](http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3113/32vs35kd7.jpg)
This was all on a Type-S motor and ECU. I have a different motor with almost same mods and a different ECU. We will see how it compares.
Nice numbers in my opinion. What do you guys think?

And I guess what I read was wrong about the not fitting. I heard somewhere that the type-s engine doesn't fit right under the 99-01 but you have that engine so I'm gonna take your word

How much would it cost to just get the type-s heads, intake, and ecu with a 3g tl 6mt?

Wow, I'm still in awe for anyone that does an engine/tranny swap because I don't have the ballz to tackle something like this. Great job!!!!
Once my 100K warranty is up, I may look into this. I have an 03 Type S now, if I just want the six speed tranny and keep my Type S engine, would I just need the six speed tranny? Which would be the easiest route, CLs 6 spd tranny or 04+ 6 spd tranny?
Again, great work on your swap!!

Also wanted to ask what it was specifically that made the RL motor not fit. I thought it was the same block so I didn't know if it was head design, IM, motor mounts or what. Just out of curiosity.

1.It doesn't work with these transmissions. Bell housing is somewhat different.
2.The motor is not exactly the same. They're what I like to call a 1st gen J-series engine and a 2nd gen J-series engine. 2nd gen J switched over to the no-exhaust manifold, one-piece intake manifold and drive-by-wire design.
3.This route is a direct swap and has the same engine mounting setup as our TL-Ps. The CL-S/TL-S' just need crankshaft, rods, and bearings and keep the stock pistons and rings. So there is no need to get a new engine.
Honestly, I would try to fit in the 2nd gen J-series swap before even attempting to throw a new RL motor in our cars.

Awesome Swap man
. Looks sweet, Im planning on doing a 6spd tranny swap on my CL-S really soon. I've been looking into just getting an 03' CL-S tranny, but since ur saying that the 04' Tl 6spd tranny fits, i might opt for that. Is there any difference in technology between the CL-S tranny and the 04' TL tranny? I also figured it would be alot easier to find an 04 TL tranny.
Also does anyone know a really good shop in north jersey to do a swap

Well I'm starting small, I have spent the last year pushing through delay after delay on my turbo setup. Just started a new job so that should be done in the next month or 2. After that, motor swap depends on my 300ZX TT. The money from its sale will buy the 3.5.

Not all the parts listed you need but I got them all anyway to be on the safe side. You could get some parts in a junkyard for cheaper and can probably get away with alot less.

Just giving you a heads up on the clutch master cylinder. The one you got does not come with any of the connectors or anything else with it, just the master cylinder itself. You will also need to get 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 (I know I saw 8 on your list and the others are just bolts).
![](http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acura/jsp/mws/catimgs/13s3m0_b2320.gif)
I have been having a hard time finding number 13, in fact I am about to call the online dealership to see if they figured out what's going on with it. Apparently there was a mix up in Honda's parts database and people all across the US couldn't get that little connector. I found this out by going to a few different dealerships and they all got sent the same part. They actually send the little nipple sticking out of the top of the CMC.

You might want to figure out some other kind of clutch master cylinder because they sent me the wrong damn part AGAIN. I've got another little nipple that connects to the clutch master cylinder to the clutch fluid reservoir. If they still can't seem to figure it out, I'm just going to return all my CMC parts and get a different one. This one we got from the junkyard while doing my swap has seen better days and needs to be replaced soon.

Otherwise My other choice would be just that black, red and polished.
Cap is what my friend gave to me when we were putting the motor together. I'll ask.
