Inner wheel well problems?

I had the car for 1- 2 months when I noticed that the plastic inner wheel well had a chunk of plastic that was cracking and sticking out of it where it screws to the fender. If you look at your wheel well you can see a series of screws just inside the wheel well that hold it in, when it breaks the piece will stick outside of your fender well. It looked as if perhaps it was over-torqued because the chunk was from the screw to the outside of the wheel well.

I had it replaced no problem, yesterday I was washing it and as I ran my mitt along the front quarter panel, I noticed that it caught on something. I looked and sure enough the other side was doing the same thing?

Anyone else ran into this?

Me too. I was snagging my drying towel on it. What do you mean you got this replaced? Is that covered under warranty?

It's mostly noticible on the front 2 fenders.

Yep they replaced the plastic inner wheel well liner under warranty. The second one is on the way, should be in this week. I think the plastic liner (inside the wheel well, faces the tread surface of the tire) is only on the front two wheel wells.

My front driver's side wheel well has this problem too. I'm starting to wonder if I made a mistake getting this car.

I picked up my car Friday night and went on a road trip the next day. After 800 miles, when I was washing the car on Monday morning, I noticed the same type of over-torqued screw causing a break in the fender liner on the driver side. I'll now check the rest of the liners. I'll try and get into the dealership this weekend, but will call ahead for the part.

Thumbs up My liner too

Guys------If this overtightening job crack is all the trouble I have, I have no trouble at all. I even thought of going in for a self repair but need that 1st oil change, liner and a surge fix during idle at stops in traffic. Car did great on a road trip to Florida this past week...........30-33mpg @ 70-90 mph, I'm pumped!

Got it on one of the screws on the passenger side, noticed it when washing the car the day I picked it up. Not a big enough problem to go to the dealer over in my opinion, the part seems to still be attached to the car fairly well.

Yup, noticed it on the driver's side the second day I had it with less than 200 miles. It was one of the thing's Carfreak showed me on his car a week before. Very minor really, but seems most of us have it. No rush back to the dealer but will ask to have it replaced.

Ditto - noticed mine a few days ago.

I recall a post 3 months or so ago where a guys inner fender wells blewout in a heavy rain. I suspect that what may have happened is that this problem weakens the iinner fender well and if you should hit some deep water the pressure could cause it to be blown right out of there.

So get them fixed and don't wait for this thought to be proven.
