Well, I finally got it in and snapped some pics. It took me about 2 1/2 hours or so, mostly b/c I was nervous about cutting the intake.... I didn't want to mess up the alignment. Thanks to NSXNEXT and RAdams posting replies to my topic from yesterday, I did my own measuring and installed the intake. It came out great, and I must say I'm proud of myself since prior to this and my exhaust (which I installed about 4 months ago) I've never done anything but change the oil on any car. Anyway, thanks guys for the replies and check out the pics below. It's so nice to have that Vtec growl back. I must say that the intake is A LOT quieter then the short ram Weapon-R I had in my CL. I was surprised. The sound is perfect though, I love it!!

Nice job junior
I was just about to do the same so I am glad you posted the
pics.
I noticed you installed the water bypass alittle differant than
the instructions say is there a advantage to this? In the instructions I think it says to remove the hard pipe and replace it with the hose.
This is the first time I will be using a CAI and was wondering
how do you get the filter out to clean it? Do you have to remove
the lower plastic everytime?
It looks like the hole is too small to pull it out the top.
Thanks

I have the Injen CAI too. I noticed you kept the metal piping and used the Injen hoses as extensions. Why didn't you remove the the 2 twin pipe and used instead the Injen hoses?
I am using the Injen silicon hoses and do look great and work great!

Thanks for the replies guys!!
I did go a slightly different route then the directions stated for the tubing, mainly b/c my mechanic friend had shown some discomfort when I told him about removing the 2 twin pipes mainly b/c of the concern that fliuds those pipes carried were better carried by metal piping, so I just simply extended the pipe using a small piece of hose to fit the intake. For the hose going into the little pipe (that's attached to the larger metal pipe) I used the second Injen hose, but made it a little longer then the stock tube to give me a little more play with the metal pipe and make everything fit nice nice. It came out good, no leaks so far!!
TooLooSe, I think you're right... when it's time to clean the filter I will have to remove the plastic flap in front of the rear wheel. No biggie since it only takes a couple of min. to do that......

Congratulations on the install. Makes you feel that much prouder having done it yourself, huh?
I was kinda toying around with the idea of using the hard metal water lines as you did... how is the fitment?
I noticed that the breather hose connected to the very top of the intake is mounted lower on your intake than on mine. Mine is angled up at about 50 degrees and I've noticed that the red hose I have connected to it is rubbing the underhood insulation and leaving a mark. It's no big deal, really, but I wish mine were as low as yours.

good catch, you are rigth about this. Your CAI is one of the older Injen designs. I had similar one and the front hose kept hiting the hood as you described and got slpicied too!!. I called Injen couple times and finally they addressed the issue and released a new design.
They sent me a replacement tube and I sent back my defective one.
If it's working fine don't worry. If the hose is getting spliced. Ask for a replacemnent.
Good luck

The fitment using the metal water lines is fine. If you notice I used the Injen lines into the secondary metal line. I did that b/c the stock one was too small and made the end of the larger metal pipe sit right against the throttle body. Obviously I couldn't connect it if it's right up against that, so I used the smaller Injen tube and replaced the stock tube that was going into the smaller pipe. I made it about an inch and a half or so longer. By doing that it gave me more play on the metal line which allowed me to connect it like you see in the pic. No fitment problems.
As for the breather hose... I'll have to agree with Beiruty b/c I have no idea about that!!

I installed my intake long enough ago that I don't remember how the lines were routed from the factory so I wasn't sure if splicing the Injen-supplied hose onto them would work.. but from your pic and description it does. I think I'm going to get some blue hose pieces (the red really doesn't do it for me under the hood for some reason) and set mine up like you did.

RAdams.... I'm going to "switch" to the Blue hoses myself.... but I just wanted to get it installed properly before I started dressing the engine bay up. I also think I'm going to paint the engine plastic blue like TypeSDragon did (I think it was him). I'll do all of that in the spring......
