inexpensive tranny fluid for the 3x3 flushing method
02' type-s i am going to do the 3x3 method for flushing my tranny but the fluid is too expensive to waste and was wondering if there was an alternative z-1 or the superseded dw-1 on the market for a filthy tranny.could i use some cleaner in there as well like maybe seafoam trans,trans-x,or some other brand? i'd say the first drain and fill should have the cleaner/conditioner in it and then for the next 2- 5 mile drive cycles use straight fluid only.i don't know what do you think?thanks.
seen many recommending Valvoline Multi-Vehicle (ATF) Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid and it's about the half the price of honda one I think

3x3 flush
many thanks from so long ago..i used the castrol transmax as suggested.it did the job, i guess.i cleaned all the solenoid shifter screens, etc and changed the filter on the last run.i drove at least 100 miles in between each drain and fill to get a better clean.i'm not sure if it really made the shifting any better but at least i know that the tranny is clean and that i did everything that i could. i left the transmax in as my final fill and it's been 300 miles or so.i'm thinking of buying the honda fluid to keep in there for good.my tranny is old and has almost 300k on it.it's still going though..thanks for the info
I did a 3X3 with the AISIN ATFDW-1 stuff in my 03 CL-S and have had no problems thus far.

It's $6.04 per quart before shipping on RA.
