This is the scenario. You are having a dinner date. You will pick up your date to a restaurant on the other side of town. Your car is equipped with navigation. Choose the option you may want:

(a) pre-program the destination ahead of time;
(b) program it in front of your date;
(c) shut down the voice;
(d) leave only map/guide function;
(e) shut down navigation and turn on the pre-programed destination when requested.

 

1) Pre-Program as a "Previous Destination"

Have car off when picking her up.
Start car, fire up NAV, then
Select Restaurant from menu,
Don't mention NAV, act like it's no big deal.
When the voice comes on, select set up and
turn down the volume.
Proceed as though it did not exist...

I agree with Oblio, that's the way to seem the coolest. Pretend like it's no big deal.

But, if you're relying on a car to impress a girl, perhaps you should be thinking of other methods- not how to introduce her to your Navigation

(f) know where you're going before you leave. pick up girl. have conversation on the way. buy nice wine with dinner. more conversation. maybe more wine. forget nav. do you want her to notice you or your car?

Oh, absolutely. I didn't mean to insinuate that my suggestion was right or better, or that anyone else's was wrong or inferior. Just what I would do, that's all.

My only concern about "impressing" a girl with my car would be to make sure it's clean, inside and out. But I do that anyway, like probably everyone else here. Maybe it's just because I've been married for seventeen years. Btw, my wife's still a pretty hot date!
