I've got the mudguards on, but only because the previous own put them on when they bought it. I've left them on, because I'm sure the damage is done already, and really I don't even notice them anymore. Then again, I have a MBP, so they don't show up as much.

My opinion is, on a dark colored car, they're okay, but on a light colored car, they show up bigtime, so leave them off.

??? if anything i think it would look better with body-matching mudguards. only issue that the shop said would be that with the different material and use of the mudflaps, the paint would be more prone to chipping or flaking, etc. (on the flaps)

take the mudguards off and leave them off IMO, as well just leave the 'A' on the rear like this

you see what I mean nice and clean

Cool

UPDATE: just got back to work and i wont have my car for the rest of the month
but, my car will be even better when i get it back
so i gotta look on the brightside
anyways, i told them to paint the mudguards exactly as the car but to not install them and to just give them to me seperate. i'm gonna go without them and see how that works out. i told them i only want the "A" installed back on and to give me "A C U R A" and "3.2TL Type-S" seperate in case i change my mind. also, they verified that they will be ( ) taking it apart and painting all the door moldings and roof and the thingies around the door handles (all things that were not vandalized) also. so, the entire car (EXTERIOR) is getting painted. ALSO, they will be smoking out the red parts of the tails with the same NBP paint and clearcoating the entire tails! also, i'm having them repaint the red from the "S" on the type-S emblem to BLUE (because i'm thinkin of doin something new with that, hopefully pics in the future) AND last, i'm pickin up the headlights from the shop while all this is goin on so i can clear them out. i NEED to know if ANYONE has info on clearing headlights besides what i've found in search: should i clear them and go without diffuser at all or is there a clear (white?) diffuser available to replace it with? and which is/looks better?

Leave them off. No sense in hurting the new paint job. Mine left pretty deep gouges on the paint, and on the driver side front it was almost down to bare metal. I hate those things. They are just sitting in the basement now collecting dust.

The only downside to not having them would be snow collecting in the wheelwell, but I don't see that as a problem at all and Michigan gets a lot of snow. I don't know where you live, but if you don't get snow, then there is no purpose in leaving them on. I think they ruin the lines on the car and look out of place, not to mention scratching the paint.

Just curious about what happened to your car. You said your car got keyed. Did you get the person who did it? How did you report this to the insurance and did they investigate? I don't want to sound too evil but that would be a good idea to get you car repainted for free....I know it's insurance fraud but how could the insurance know? Just asking

yeah my car got keyed all over and they ripped off the rear emblems and it got egged by only ONE egg. no i didnt get the person who did it, it happened over night in the parking lot and i didnt discover it til the morning when i was late for work. that's exactly how i reported it to my insurance company and i do not know if they "investigated" (they dont tell you if they think you're lying). and yes it would be a good idea. and YES that would be insurance fraud. it's okay to ask, bro. it just so happens that i work in insurance! i myself work for the 3rd largest auto insurance company in the nation and i kinda do know plenty about the subject. no, i do not have insurance from the same company i work for. and no, i would not risk the $250,000 fine and time in jail for a free paint job. but hey, i appreciate your keen eye for detail now, ya gonna gimme an opinion here or not?

Dont. if your car was here we would tell you to go out and look at it and see where the mudflaps have CUT thru the paint to the bare metal from them. for those who have them go out and press on them so you can see where the edge of the mudflap sits on the fender, it cuts thru the paint

OH MY GOD I JUST BUSTED OUT LAUGHIN AT WORK FROM READING YOUR POST!
yeah kid i really paid $10,000 for a paint job myself, THAT's right!

By the way, DUMBASS wtf is "rolf"??? i mean, cmon, yeah we all have typo's but that's what EDIT is for! and TWICE??? W O W

did u mean "R O F L"?? or does ROLF stand for "really obnoxious lost f*****"???

i'm glad you listened about searching for the thread that talks about my car situation, though i'm astounded that you figured out how to use that search feature! its okay if you're mad that you over-payed for a nice install and then came to find out that audiobahn and clarion are crap, its not the end of the world, son. but i knew you'd say something stupid on my thread, its okay, completely expected. oh wait, you forgot to mention the same stuff that you mention every time you reply to me! and what about the same stuff you say in the PM that you sent me? about driving off cliffs and being in the mafia anyway, i thought u were leaving and never posting on AZ again? damn i guess you just lied to get our hopes up. oh well. its sad how you really seem to want to keep this going. i mean seriously, lay off the haterade i dont think you're even old enough to drink that yet. well, like i said before, good luck in life, kid

The only reason i have never took mine off is because i didnt learn about the mud flap cutting the paint before it was tooooooooooo late. now i have 4 cut marks thru the paint about 4 inches long where the mud guard has gone to teh metal (atleast on the front fenders)

Talking Little Visit To See My Baby In Tha Shop...

UPDATE:

snapped a couple pics with my cell when i went to the shop to pick up my headlights for clearing...

and...

the guy said if he let me drive it right now the way it is, he'd have to call me "Vladimir" (sactown/inside joke )

so it should be done next week. decided on no mudguards (painted NBP seperate), only keepin "A" (keeping the rest of the badges for future), redtails will now be NBP (and top white parts only clearcoated), cleared the headlights (without clear diffuser), painting red part of "Type-S" emblem blue (plan to put it somewhere else to do somethin a little different that i've never seen done before) AND last minute thought that i had them do: black part of grill will also be NBP. i cant wait to get it back, i'm incomplete without el mafioso and they're gonna open up Sac's first Hooters right around the corner from me just in time for me to get my car back!

damn i cant wait to cruise my ride again

keep the mud guards off...they cut my paint also, so they're never going back on, and if you're paying top $$ for a cool paint job, don't ruin it. by the way, that's a sweet looking car!
