Before I looked at where your loacation is I said they are most likely from N.J. NY. area. It seems the cops should be able to set up some stings to catch some of the people involved in this. It happens more in the N.J. N.Y area more than any other place I think. I the cops don't do it some of you N.J. CL/TL folks should & catch them then beat the hell out of them & let the word get around that it was done.

what do these *******s do with these lights? I'm sure they are damaged and not worth much. Sorry to hear about your headlights. Is this mainly a east coast thing?

I am not sure what parts of the lights that they are using but they are most likey going into ACCORD,TEGS & CIVICS.
Over the last 2years it seems to be reported more in the NEW JERSEY/ NEW YORK area.

Has Acura fixed the headlight access problem for the 2003 models?

No Acura didn't fix the problem. Well figure it out yourselves, a HID kit costs close to $500. These a**holes figure they can get it for free.

teflonron, where did you park your car? Usually it happens to people who leave their car in one place for more than one night, and the thieves think it's safe.

Last I heard, the Maximas are getting hit harder than the TLs

yea maximas are getti hit hard...but the HIDs are crap..so TLs still are the most desirable...my got stolen as well...and i had 1000$ worth of mods done to em...i had the 6000K bulbs and X projectors custom mounted...and they were secured to the frame of the car with zipties.....that fuked up the fixtures....but the stilll got the main components...so now, i have a GS conversion!

cops in the tri-state area dont care about headlights...they have other things to worry about (i.e., murderers, rapists, robbers, etc.)

It looks like someone took a can opener to my hood fenders and bumpers. The idiot wrecked the whole front of the car. I went to the claims guy today and he said they have to replace lights hood and the bumper and fenders can be repaired. I don't even want to look at the car until it is fixed:yack:

Acura should design something to disable the HIDS if they are taken out without a proper tool or proper series of steps. This would at least make them less attractive to thieves.

I personally would like to figure a way to rig up the ink die that they use in the banks to splatter bankrobbers when the open the money. Then we could bash the first kid we see driving a teg or civic w/ a blue face!!!:flamer:

Gee, how nice. TWO sets! How many dealers do you know with 2 extra sets lying around in New Jersey?? Aren't these things always back ordered.

This is insane................

You know what, instead of etching the TL windows, they ought to etch these HID units with the VIN.

THAT would be interesting!

gf's maxima hit for HID's

The HID bandits got my GF's Maxima in Queens.
She came out and saw a maxima with the hood up and thought someone was working on another maxima. so she went around the block thinking she parked someplace else.

Come to find out hers was the car with the hood up. They stole the alarm horn and HIDs. At least they were very neat and didn't mess up the hood fenders and bumpers like they did on my car.

got the insurance est. $3k

It's really out of control here. My buddy's Maxima got hit in Secaucus a couple of months ago. Ugh.

I got hit at the Westchester Mall in White Plains. Someone took a hammer to my bumper and started futzing around with the wiring. Lucky for me they didn't get them and lucky for them I didn't catch em. I would have seriosly beat the ever living s**t out of them and enjoyed every second of it.
400 bucks for a new bumper....couldnt even report it to insurance (500 dollar deductable)

Curious if you can tell there was damage after the repairs? Does the fender bumper and hood line up correctly?

Well, I figure it should considering nothing that is structural got damaged/bent. What I mean by that is that the car does not have to be bent back to place from say a collision. All the damaged items are basically bolt on pieces....i.e. the hood, fenders, bumper, lights and etc.

It all still depends on how good the body shop is cause things do need to be bolted on aligned properly but if I had the proper tools and facility, I think I'd even be able to do the job myself.....except for the painting part:p Need more practice with that.

I wouldn't worry about the outcome too much, just make sure they do a "proper" job....especially with the paint, etc. Make sure you go over that car really well before you drive off.

Good luck.

got the car back

Finally got the car back afte 17 days in the shop for body work and headlights replacement. They did a beautiful job on the body work. I wound up with a new hood and new bumper cover and new tire and rim in the deal and new chrome window molding. looks like a brand new car better than befor

The only draw back is they didn't hook up the drl's and the high beams are not working so I will have to go back again Sat. Uggggh

All of you guys who think it will just happen in one area, think again. I have not heard a lot of it here in Philly, but if there is one thing s that theives do, it's talk, and for those of us who live in Philly, B'more and D.C., New York is not far away. So if the heat up there gets to a certain point, these theives will unfortunately look eslewhere!
