If you need a good mechanic in central NJ

Just throwing it out there if you need any work done in central NJ. I just had my timing belt/wp, and engine mounts done on my '99TL at this shop that an ex-Honda mechanic just recently opened up in East Windsor, NJ. Nice guy, good prices and did a clean fast job of it.

He used all Honda parts and did the Timing belt, WP, accessory belts, idler pulley, seals, and used Honda Type 2 coolant for $550. He also changed my front and side engine mounts for an additional $413.

great price for the water pump and belts given how much labor it involves! and using honda/acura parts is the only way to go. my previous mechanic in north jersey used an aftermarket water pump - not sure why considering how inexpensive water pumps are. it failed on me in less than 50k miles. fortunately, it failed a couple of weeks after i drove x-country, and not during my trip. cost me a few more bones to get it replaced AGAIN!

You are 100% right. I had the same exact issue. The previous owner of my TL had the TB/WP done at 101k miles. But, it was a private garage and they used an aftermarket WP. 60k miles later and it starting leaking. So I had to do the TB/WP again now ~40k miles early. Some parts you really need to stick to OEM- esp on a Honda

I thought it was an ok price considering the dealer wanted $775. I would have attempted it myself but he already had to remove the side one for the timing belt

How is that possible when the front mount alone is around $175 just for the part???

Oh, he included parts? Well, you still paid too much, but not that much. Maybe $100.

About $200 for both engine/side from most of the dealers on the forum.
Front goes for $137
$100 labor.

Definitely got charged too much for the motor mount job but the TB/WP was pretty good so I guess it evens out.
