Idle fluctuating?

So, today I started up my car to go to school. When i started it up i noticed it was ideling a bit high, but thought nothing of it... plus I was in a hurry. Anyway, on the way to school, I notice how reluctant the car is to stop at stop signs, and how rough the automatic downshifting is! When i put the car in park, the RPM just continuously go from 1500 RPMs to 2500 RPMS, then back down to 1500 and then back to 2500... OVER AND OVER! So I am going to lunch at school, and while im driving the Check Engine light and TCS light comes on!!!!! now im like, ok WTF! please GOD NO, NOT THE TRANNY!!!! anything but the tranny!

Anyway I took it to the shop after school. Still acting up. Any ideas?

The IAC is the Idle Air Control valve Its located on the Throttle Body. I dont know what your talking about with the V2 coming with wires for that?? Its not something that can be repaired. when it goes bad it needs to be replaced

my 2003 did the same thing once a few months ago, on my way to school...but then it never happened again after that. It hasn't done it ever again so i hope it's fine.

EDIT: I have the v2 too....no wiring for the IAC came with it at all don't think it's supposed to and there's not really a place for wiring with a metal tube.

same exact thing happened to me. i have no clue what it means, but for me, it was the very first sign of my tranny failure(have absolutely no clue if they are related at all). 3 months later, tranny #1 gone.

good thing i just got an aftermarket warranty!
umm... with the V2, some wires came with it. Someone told me they were for the IAC, but I have no clue.... The wires dont plug into the v2, they like let the IAC know it has a new intake? i really dont know what im talking about here tho.

there should be no wires with the intake. all it does is make a smooth path for the air and relocate the filter. It may have come with Hoses to help with the bypassing of the cmall radiator and or coolant lines that teh 99 has, but should have nothing to do with the IAC. the iac is attached to the bottom of the TB and doesnt get touched, especially the wiring

Sometimes the port just get fouled with grime and just needs to be cleaned with some intake cleaner.

Get the codes read for free at any number of locations - it may not be the IAC.

Yep...your right...I went through two, and then realized that the IAC can get just as grimey as the intake manifold.

The IAC has a valve that opens to let enough air bypass into the engine when idling. If it is clogged then the engine must rev in order to prevent stalling.

So just simply check if it needs to be cleaned...cleaning it helped me when I started running rich under boost.

Haven't had to do it on my '00 yet. However, if you remove the rubber snorkel to the intake and look inside, you should see a passage around the butterfly which is the air passage to the IAC valve. Pick up a can of intake cleaner at your local auto store and follow the instructions. Some cleaners want the engine to be running (it will burn the cleaner), others want the engine off.
