IAC Valve
Long story short, I bought my TL-S exactly a week ago and today the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) went out. I bought it from Marin Acura which is about 40miles from me, I was going to bring it there but the car was practically undriveable having the rpm's surge and car wanting to go faster when braking. So I brought it to Serramonte Acura which is like 2miles from my house, they diagnosed it for free because they thought it was the tranny but it turns out my tranny is in good shape and it's the IACV like I thought. So current status is Serramonte is waiting on Marin Acura to get the go-ahead to fix the car, but there is a small chance they won't. The lady at the service department said they should fix it for free since I literally bought the car a week ago and Marin Acura has a good reputation. If they don't though, can I clean the IACV? or should I buy a new one? its 170 from dealer and I do not want to pay that much, anywhere I can get it cheaper? I remember seeing some threads about cheap OEM acura parts but I can't seem to find them..... Any input would be appreciated

If worst comes to worst you could clean it. It's not very hard, and it made mine work. The reason I say if worst comes to worst is because the dealership should fix that, and it shouldn't cost shit. That's my opinion.

No I didn't have a tutorial. I took my throttle body off, and then took off the IACV and cleaned it with carberator cleaner. I took it apart as much as I could and got all the particles off. Youd be surprised what youll find. Mine started messing up as soon as I put my intake on, it scared the shit out of me, but its all good now.

I think it has something to do with the difference in the amount of air into the throttle body. I'm not exactly sure, but that's just what I think. If you clean your IACV and give it a couple of hours all should be good........... hopefully.

Why would you bring it to a different dealership if it's out of warranty.
Also, I've cleaned my IACV and it worked great...for a month or two. Now it's bad again. I think I will just buy a new one.
