I was wrong about Zaino!

I decided to do my own evaluation, so I got the whole enchilada: Z-1 - Z7.

Did the whole rigamarole, carefully chanting and meditating as I went.

I did 3 coats of Z-5, 2 of Z-2.

I have to say, the stuff is easy to use, and the shine is extra good.

Jeez, Hyde has become Jeckyll!

There I go, being a stand up guy, admitting the error of my ways, baring my innermost demons for all the Forum to see, and now this...

And, to address your point - NO, I still would not wax my car with Amsoil. It is soiled enough.

I'm not sure I would agree it's easy to use. Maybe on a silver or light colored car you don't see the "smearing" left behind after you buff but no matter how little I put on my DEP or how long I let it dry, I always have a greasy looking film left on mine after buffing. Granted, I have to look very closely to see it but it's there. I always have to use a wet towel to get it off before going on the the next step.

I would definitely agree the shine it leave behind beats anything I've ever used. I was always a die-hard Meguiar's fan, but I'm sold on Zaino's. I just wish it were easier to get.

Sounds like you are putting too much on the applicator..It does not take much...There is definetly no smearing if applied correctly....I do have a WDP TLS but I look at it from every angle possible in the sun and out...

.Where are you in Roanoke? I grew up there and lived in Roanoke up until 4 years ago....Lived on Broadway in South Roanoke.....Grew up in Garden City......Grad from PH in '89

Yep, I've tried putting almost nothing on the applicator and letting it bake in the sun for a while to dry it (as Zaino recommends). I still get the greasy film. No so much with the Z5 but definitely with the Z2. But when I do get the film off and follow up with the Z6, man does it look hot.

A PH grad?! Well, I won't hold that against you. LOL. I graduated from Cave Spring in 88. I grew up in SW county but after college I lived in Raleigh Court for a while. Now I live back in SW county at the edge of the valley -- great view of the mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Do you miss the mountains? Also, I checked out your web-site -- interestingly, I know another graphics designer who lives (or maybe lived now) on Broadway. Chuck Hawthorne. You know him?

RR -- I thought I was wrong once... but I was mistaken!

I agree on the Zaino being pretty easy to use, and it LASTS much longer than wax. I like it more and more with every passing day.

Rage, welcome to the cult. If you now attempt to leave, you will have to be silenced.

Seriously, Zaino is good stuff. I drove home in a driving rain last night. When I went out to the garage this morning, the hood of my car was virtually spotless, shining as ever. All I could say was "damn!"

Daryl/8Ball

It still is a cult - I am in it now. Actually, I just wanted to make peace with Daryl since I like to go to VaBeach, and knew he was looking for a "dull, waxy" Satin Silver, lowered, SSR wheeled TL-S to jump on my head.

8Ball: I know once in, always in. We should call the cult "Cosa Nostra Zaino" (our zaino thing). It is pronounced Zay-no or Zi-no?

And as much as I like Sal, I am not willing to make the same sacrifice Abraham was. There will be no offspring blood-letting on my watch!

Oopps, I must get to my rug, face North, and pay homage to the All Most (Almost?) Reverent Sal.

Rage,

My box full-o-zaino arrives today. Hopefully I will concur with your conclusions.

I second concur with Redline's observation about the greasy residue that Z-2 leave hehind on my NBP, I used the product during the hot California's summer day and leave it underneath the sun for virtually whole day, but the greasy film persist. I have used Z-2 on my 5 year old Ford Taurus without any of the same problem, which makes me wonder if the certain paint on the TL is hard for Z-2 to bite on.

I used a Z6 base and my car now has about eight coats of Z2 on top of it, never a problem. I usually apply the Z2 at night, let it dry overnight, and buff the car down before heading out in the morning. Comes off like a charm, I can do the whole car now in around 15 minutes.
