I think im about to join the dead tranny club

I was driving about 45-50 mph today and my CEL and TCS lights came on. I went to auto zone and the codes P0740 and P0420 came up. What are the chances that acura is going to pay for my tranny or at least half? I have a 99 canada spec TL with about 118K on it.

Canada spec-- is that kilometers or miles on it?

Call Acura Care at 1-800-382-2238 x 5
6am to 5 pm pacific time

They are your best source of information and the start of any patrial coverage negotiations

Good Luck- be nice to the phone person- they are just doing a job!~
After you call them- emails get sent all over the country and various managers.

Yes my car is in kilometers. I just called acura customer care and they told me that they arent paying for any part of it. I guess the TL is going to be sitting on the driveway until i get the money for a new tranny.

They won't cover it because it's a Canadian spec TL? 118,000 km = approximately 73,000 miles, so it's definitely within the warranty for the transmission.

being a car in the US the warranties dont apply here. Maybe try driving it across the border to see if you can get some work done there

The CEL and TCS lights came on and the tranny was slipping and slammed into gear almost every time it shifted. I drove it today and the TCS light was off. Everything seemed fine but then after about 10 minutes of driving it started slipping again and TCS light came back on.

Well wait when did you buy the car? They extanded the warranty to 7 years and 9 months so even though your a 99 you might make it.

He is over the mileage limit and not a usa spec car.

Its sounds bad- thats as easy as I can say it.

See above options for price on rebuild unit.
I was thinking of 5 speed auto when giving prices- your cost may be less
make some phone calls and let us know

theres no way im driving all the way to canada from here. There is a junkyard full of only hondas and acuras about 30 minutes from my house. I'll call them tomorrow to see if they have a tranny.

Since my sister is at collage im going to be driving her 98 3.0CL until i fix my car.
